Tempted by these in black on my nature boy.. if theyll fit...

  • sure its 700c?

    EDIT: They look like
    They are wired though ..

  • That's the ones. Not fussed if they're wired, they're going on a Caadx which is pushing 10kg already...

  • Technically they're right, as if you rode with tyres under the manufacturer specification, it's no longer warrant.

However, even at 55psi (I ran them 70 read, 55 front), it shouldn't really cause this.

  • I ran them at that pressure, even @Dammit rode his 30mm at 45psi on a gravel road.

  • Thanks man, I knew you'd have my back. They've honoured the warranty, even though I didn't expect them to. I just tweeted them and they told me to return them, I fully expected them to send them back to me.

I don't think I was using them incorrectly, they rolled like normal tyres (I know what an under inflated tyre feels like), just really nice. None of the squirming one would expect from a tyre at such a low psi. I'll keep the new ones for spring and then run them again the same way...

  • I run my Corsa G+ 25's the same way as the old Corsas - wide rim and not above 70 psi. On the old Corsa I Accidentlty did the fixie WC in Berlin 2015 on 55 psi because of broken gauge on pump #doueven47kmhaverage

  • Actually, on a technical point, you were using them incorrectly, even I have to pump the tyres up at the manufacturer's pressure despite knowing that it's way too high for the customer, and I can't even tell them this because it would mean I'm liable if the tyres failed like your.

The only company I know of that actually advised running the tyres at a low pressure is, quelle surprise, Compass Bicycles.

    I also have turned away warranty because the customer only pump the tyres up five time a years and end up with the carass criss crossing on the sidewall like this (very common on MTB where you need it low enough to finally grip);

However, despite all this, I think it's bull, as even with that low pressure, it shouldn't cause the tread to come off, you should have seen this pattern as pictured above which is the main cause of underinflation.

  • I know what you mean and Ed but in the case of the Schwalbe photo above that criss-crossing is actually a pattern in the moulding (Snakeskin casing) and like that from new. ^^^

  • It on a lots of tyres, only shown when riding under inflation for a while.

  • You should let Schwalbe know they're using damaged tyres in their advertising material...

  • Even if you look at new Compass tyres they have the cross pattern visible...

Jan's point (in response to this article) is that the sealant only leaks through the walls when inflated too low and that's damaged the threads. Having run them tubeless I'd disagree with Jan and say the sidewalls are too light and porous and will leak regardless of pressure and trying a different sealant might be a better option.

  • did you orange seal yet? ;)

  • You should let Schwalbe know they're using damaged tyres in their advertising material...

    I'm talking about this;

  • "might be a better option"... I've only got orange peel to hand at the moment, although that's probably less porous than the Compass tyres...

  • Why not use those pictures in your original post then?!

  • I am keen to hear about the experiments .. I have tyres that are not official tubeless but people who have converted them have the same complaint.

  • FWIW this guy recommended orange seal (maybe he tried it, i dunno): https://www.instagram.com/eddiebarksdale/

This guy was going to try them tubeless w/ OS but I don't think got round to it: https://www.instagram.com/p/BK8zr8ED70P

I'm don't think I'll get round to replacing my sidewalls or sealant with peel. Satsuma and clementines are probably supple enough, but it's just too much vitamin c in one go.

  • Cause I finally able to find it, googling tyres damage cycling was enough apparently.

  • Had a proper Scoble moment attempting to remove some ultra-budget mtb tyres this evening. Snapped 2 levers and in the end resorted to cutting the fuckers off. First time I've been bested by a tyre, well embarrassed.
Maxxis Medusas basically leapt onto the rims afterwards they were so malleable.

  • Which tyres to get me through the Autumn & Winter on my road bike?

25c and preferably not made by Continental...

Sigh is GP4000s really the best?

  • Anyone recommend some super grippy winter road tyres?

Last year I came off three times after losing traction on ice patches and am keen to avoid a repeat.

  • ....weird synchronicity there

  • Try the continental grand prix (without the 4000s). They are tougher and roll like 4 watts slower...

next step I guess is Schwalbe Durano (not plus)....

  • The only thing that will grip ice is a studded tyre. If you can track some down, I've always liked Paves for winter.
