people were warning about bb height when converting but haven't experience any difficulties at all with 70mm bb-drop and 175mm cranks with my conversion.
i guess if i cornered really hard with inside pedal down i might experience pedal strike but that scenario seems unlikely. what i gained with the conversion was a more stable ride and reduced trail which are both benefits when riding with load at the front.

the missus' rig has 80mm and 165mm cranks and corversion worked well for her as well(42mm tyres like mine has)

You need to crank it over more in the post-pub midnight criteriums, then get back to me.

What are you guys thinking - Above Category has an interesting write up on their site:

WTB horizons weigh in at 481g (post office scale)
-
• #635
lower than 515g claimed .. interesting/bought

Fail. States 27.5" is slower but completely fails to quantify/measure in doing so. Low speed vibrations tricking the high-pressure conditioned mind. Pretty surprised tbh - seeing as they quote Jan Heine earlier in the article.

If you have bought I hope you've got a compressor or one of the tubeless pumps. Took soapy water and compressor to get them up and seated properly - look great though

considering converting the wheels on my partners bike to 650b, pretty sure it has the clearance so i was thinking of getting some long drops and building some wheels.
Any recommendations for machined sidewall alloy rims?
or does this sound like a bad idea? -

I didn't .. I tested the Hetre which come up 40.5mm on the VO Diagonale that I have and there was about 4mm each side so didnt want to risk it .. went with Gravel King 44mm instead. Cheap too £55 for a pair. Although I can see Horizons listed at £35 on CRC albeit out of stock at the moment.

both flat overnight and had to pump the front up three times on the way in! this as never happened before and I've been using tubeless (mtb) for at least 7 years.
Rode nice and 'seem' to be faster than the re-fuse!

Looking nice! Creeping through sidewalls or valve hole?
-
• #642
can't see anything coming through valve hole and the rear is fine and it was done in exactly the same way (sidewalls)

pump up the tyres to a high pressure, and then cover with a solution of water and washing up liquid
bubbles will appear where air is leaking out. then shake the wheel trying to get the sealant inside the wheel to the area where the leaks are appearing.
look here approx 2minutes 40s into the video

thanks, i'll give that a go tonight. Only had to do that before with mtb tyres which aren't tubeless but I think the sidewalls are quite thin on the horizons and its getting through there.

thats one sexy looking bike .. I didnt know you were moving from Re-fuse .. would've grabbed em for testing at least if you were selling.

I placed order yesterday, haven't arrived yet.

I will await your thoughts with the anticipation of a mongoose

thanks, thinking about getting some for the moots frameset which is hiding from the wife in the attic!
if you want to try them for fit I'm happy to post them down for you to try and just post them back when you've finished with them. Come up at 51mm though and significantly larger than the horizons which I think will be 47mm or less

Would you be able to do me a massive favour and measure how far out the widest part of that tyre is from your axle?
While BB drop is a thing, it's no longer important if you're running clipless pedals.
In fact, the BB drop were designed with clip and strap in mind.
