  • Ouch indeed. Better your trainer than your foot though?

  • I clocked 5:19 for that mile despite taking it cautiously

    Rapid!

  • Got splits from xc from my hrm watch thingy

    3 laps:

    1) 13.53 ave 164bpm
    2) 13.06 ave 171bpm
    3) 12.41 ave 178 bpm

Maxed 184 crossing line, less than the 190 hit in the morning 5km.

Gentler taper resumed last night, docs for Tetanus shot advice this morning.

  • just be careful not to step on the spikes in the railings as you can impale your trainers. As I found out.

  • This is pretty much how it happened! #fml

  • Tetanus shot received.

@hats did you spike into your foot too then? Tetanus shots all round then if so!

  • I walk my dog around BP most nights- best way out (and in) is sliding under gates on Brixton Water Lane, the gap is very wide

  • No, foot was unscathed, just my shoe. I actually looked up the symptoms of tetanus recently (after I got bitten by a dog) and FUCKING HELL it's horrible. Glad you've got your shots!

  • Excellent inside knowledge, thanks :) Yay for night dogs!

  • Glad foot was missed!

  • so i had a bit of a shocker in the x country. obviously went off way too hard. lost nearly 30 places between half way and the end. need to re-think my training and racing priorities.

did the putney half on sunday morning, not really sure why, but ran a reasonably steady 1hr22, faded in the final few miles, as is to be expected.

commute home was extended this evening due to no trains on the district line. very glad i had a waterproof jacket in my bag.

sounds like an exciting sunday run in Brockwell park. Glad you are uninjured @hats

  • My medium Mapei vest just arrived on my desk, don't think I'll be fitting into it any time soon.

  • Can anyone recommend a nice friendly club in Bristol? I figure I better do it properly now I've got something to aim for and the time to train properly

  • Mine has arrived too! I got the small, boobs are encased well enough and it's nicely lairy. Shame it's not vest weather for much longer...

  • I think you'll find that it is

  • ^ pffft. Wicking layer, merino layer, and waterproof tonight.

  • I can confirm it's still best weather in Windsor, I doubted it for the 10 minutes I stood around in it while waiting for club mates, but I was feeling smug when everyone else was stripping off layers after 20 minutes!

  • Pfft. In Edinburgh tonight, vest and trunks, run to loch, swim in loch, run back to hotel. Balmy.

  • Barmy.

    Ftfy.

  • Berlin ballot opens tonight

  • You should come up for hogmanay and do the loony dook in the firth.

But yes, it's still just about vest weather up here, tho I did wear long sleeves with my short shorts this morning.

  • I've just written out my VMLM 2017 training plan. It's got coloured boxes and everything. Very exciting.

  • are you not pacing this time around?!

  • Probably not; I'm not making an official decision till end of the year. Deadline for Championship entry is early Jan, which happens to be about the time Runner's World put a call out for pacing volunteers, but if my training goes well between now and then I want to have another crack at sub-2:30. I've worked out it takes me 18 months to get the proper marathon mojo back!

  • Berlin ballot opens tonight

    Cheers, registered
