  • I'll be desperately trying to train / lose weight before TABR.

  • So as long as I drink enough every night to spew, it'll all be good! :D

  • Just wondering has @andy_k any news on the Macclesfield beer scene?

  • Not had much time to see what's what! Still trying to find time for a trip up to Buxton too!

One bottle shop has closed and become a bar/bottle shop hybrid - popped in briefly, unsure how long they've been there and might have been badly timed but there wasn't much on the shelves [Edit: the internet says the original owners sold it and the new owners have reduced the range :(]. The other bottle shop (never even had chance to visit!) closed after being taken over by a pub and will be incorporated into their premises, unsure where/when.

Red Willow have a tap house, it's been a couple of years since I've been in, I just remember a huge computer screen thing and trying to choose from 30-odd kegs. Will revisit.
Treacle Tap and Snow Goose are both still there and apparently still have a decent selection (the former for fancy bottles iirc).

Will update when I'm back from the US...!

  • Tiny Rebel Marshmallow Porter available online now:

  • Sounds like some Potential there amongst that lot. The Wharf was nice when I visited last too. Enjoy your trip to Trump-land.

  • Only need to go as far as chiswick. The fullers brewery shop for some trappist (amd Californian) ale

  • My local bottle shop does those.

  • Regarding Belgian brews, had a Westmalle Triple in The Cow (20min walk from Paddington) last night.

  • the best of the non fancy Trappists by far

  • I was thinking about The Wharf the other day, been at least 3 years since I've been though... should revisit...

  • Fancy and bloody expensive Trappist:

  • @Jcgarcia had that on tap at the Chesham (Easts)
Btw what is your local bottle shop? Now I'm West can check it out. I usually pick up from Prince of wales road bottle shop, Kentish Town as pas there often when I work east

  • On tap? Never seen that anywhere in Belgium or Nl. You sure it's not Westmalle Dubbel? They don't even have tripel on tap across the road from the monestary in the 'official' Westmalle pub

  • Yes you're right. It must've been dubbel

  • Not your cup of tea?

  • Ah... shame my suspicion's confirmed cause I would have loved to taste it from tap

  • To be honest. The dubbel on tap isn't as good as from a bottle

  • Overindulged last night. Lots of pints of Black Sheep "Pathfinder" or something.

  • I would definitely not refuse any of those.

There's another shop down the road that sells Weird Beard and stuff like Westmalle though so if I was feeling Belgian I'd go for those.

  • Siren / Garage "Blacklight Banana". V.good for a twist on an Imperial Stout. Not too bananas.

Got a can of Northern Monk Patron 2.01, Imperial Whisky Honey somethingorother for another time. Could be good.

  • Had to make an emergency visit to Beermoth before enduring 10 days of PBR...
