the new knog blinders have a selection of rubber straps.
They're better than the old ones as the rubber isnt fixed so can be replaced when it breaks. The kid grids are great for city visibility, and have an awesome dancing LEDs pattern. -

Has anyone got any handlebar plug light recommendations? It wouldn't be my main light, I have a moon nebula for that.
-

I've heard horror stories on them not fitting into compact bars. Anyone got any other suggestions? These are an abomination http://www.ridehelios.com/mobile/ but the plugs are neat

Oh right - if you have good lights why do you need them anyway? They all are dog shit.

Really just to appear wider to vehicles. I've lost count of the amount of times that drivers have thought I was only as wide as my rear light, especially when approaching me quickly. My idea is that if a driver sees three lights they will take a wider line

Evans have a sale on lights at the moment, an extra 10% off.
Tempted with one of these. Not bad value for under £30

On another note does anyone have suggestions for a key chain red flashing light? I want something to clip onto my bag that can just hang off and flash so as a spare/extra light. Something like this but better quality... http://r.ebay.com/iko4Uj

Top man, thats the sort of thing.
I was searching clip on lights and carabina lights and was getting all sorts of random lights

Has anyone tried 'Kinetic' lights - this sort of thing:
I'm wondering if they are as immediate as a brake light switch on a motorbike or a bit more gradual.
And if there's any big downside to them? Battery life, reliability?

Can anyone recommend a front light, 600+ lumens, good mount, well built and sub £70?
I chanced my arm with some cheap stuff and have learnt my lesson. I basically just want a Hope Vision 1 with more oomph.

Try and get lucky with a second hand Exposure (Strada's rock for the road). I got mine for just under a hundred, and have seen them cheaper on occasion. It meets all your criteria apart from price obviously, but well worth it. Nothing bad about them in my mind.

Exposure fixed my out-of-warranty Toro recently. Turn around under 5 days, £12 or so including return shipping. Excellent customer service!

That's good to hear. They're a bit dear right now but might be worth a look at some point. What's the battery life like?
-
• #4416
Depends on the model but all the ones with integrated battery usually have between 2-36h depending on the setting (flash lasts forever). They have indicators and will switch down to flash when running low to get you home.
I did some run tests on my Toro and Joystick with/without the red eye rear somewhere in this thread or one of hippys transam/tcr maybe, I don't exactly remember which...
Exposure do have an "outlet" on their website with some discounted models. The other option is to look for last season ex-demo stuff from places like Rutland Cycles (I think...)

Lezyne Macro drive 800XL for £55 , good deal? Is the Power Drive 1100XL for £75 worth the extra? Need to replace my current one as it doesn't hold charge for very long anymore, and also isn't really bright enough to light up country lanes.
Anything around the price bracket I should think about instead? Must be usb rechargable because cba with batteries, and easy to swap between bikes with no tools.

Done to death but rear lights - got to work this morning to find that the business part of my two week old Moon Pulsar had parted ways with the strap part.
Do I risk another Pulsar, or get something else? I like Moons, but I find they don't always have the best battery life which is a priority for me, along with a mount that's easy to use on a variety of bikes.

My moon shield has been going strong for two years I think now. Really like em.

moon "copy" from aliexpress .. basically same light with no logo
-

I need it sooner than that...ordered another Pulsar. Only a tenner.

Further to this, has anyone got any opinions on Lezyne in general? Build quality/battery life/runtimes/bar mount etc? Clocks go back soonish and need to sort out some better lighting.

I like their front lights. No experience of the rears.

I've had two lezyne microdrive rear lights - small, bright enough and simple to use. The rubber cap that covers the USB port needs care; the first one got water in it and died. Second one has been going for over a year and still works fine.
Run time is only about 3 hours depending on setting, but enough for most non audax purposes.
I've recently bought a microdrive duo for on helmet use - bright front light, rear os better than nowt as an additional light. Run time is good. Has a screw on cap over the charging port so looks less likely to suffer water ingress.

Few days late, but: I've got the Deca Drive 1500 and rate it pretty highly, (except the power level indicator operates more like run-time indicator). The main benefit of going bigger is the extended battery life rather than increased output. I run mine on 250lumen 'economy' mode 99% of the time (commute is 20mins urban, 40mins country lanes each way) and can get 8 hours or so out of it. For comparison 250 lumen on the 800 will only get you 5 hours.
edit: Looking at their website, the 1100 only gives you 450 or 150 lumen options which don't balance power/battery well at all.
