Thanks mate, I am looking at this messenger mini, it's a little wider and a little longer, but still as light... just checked it out at LBS...

Came across this last, definitely a reliable lock

This really isn't a thread for funnies. There's a Memes thread for you if you don't really want to discuss locks and techniques. Thanks for understanding.

There's a memes thread?

Lighten up there my man.
Technically it is a lock.

@poorman , If you read from post #74-#97, you will understand this thread entirely. And this thread is not about locks. Its actually about ultimate locks, and the very best locking solutions. Representatives from Krytonite and Pragmasis post directly to this thread, and Xena have copied a page from here to use within their website.

Onhere for 8 years and never found the WNTLYB thread?
-

Actually, that thread is very educational. It shows the epitome of stupidity, and would makes others think more, before locking their bikes in a rush.

Searched the forum for litelok, didn't see anything. I'd like to see some third-party tests.
Same here, they look like they've been done especially for the camera.
Bolt cropper usage is hilarious, minimal leverage and lots of flapping around. No attempt to push down hard on the end of the handles.
Hacksaw test seems reasonable but I'm beginning to doubt how good that blade was.
Angle grinder test done in poor light seems like they want to hide something. Why wasn't it done in the same lab as before?
Also no pressure (car jack) attack on the lock mechanism itself.

I'm not too fussed about the angle grinder one, if someone's going at your lock with an angle grinder you're probably screwed. The hacksaw one seems reasonable, cutting through that kind of crap can clog the blades pretty easily.
I'd like to see an actual cropper test though, the one on the video is bollocks and no reflection on what would happen in reality given they've not even bothered locking it. Plus no testing at all on the lock mechanism.
It's an interesting concept but no chance I'd buy it without some independent testing.

Finally got myself a Kryptonite messenger mini and I am very happy that it can lock my bike the same way as my new York big boy (seat tube, back wheel and the stand), much ligher, about 1/3 I think...

Could you get the crank arm in there as well to really fill up the inside space for extra defence?
-
• #2790
Forgot to try it when leaving work, will try and do it tomorrow. :-)

• #2791
It works and still with plenty of space... so not sure how much different this is?

It's in the Telegraph as well, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/recreational-cycling/the-bike-lock-that-stops-thieves-by-making-them-vomit-uncontroll/
Personally I'm surprised something like this can be sold due to the potential effects on innocent passers-by. -

@TomvanHalen, what you called a dust-shield, may have been a shield to guard against freeze attacks instead. I'm answering from the other thread.
-
• #2795
o rite. How so? It's certainly described as a dust shield, or it least something to stop rain and crap getting in the keyhole. As it stands, turns out the orange rubbery bit on the Evo Mini pulls straight off and then the plastic bit slides off. Much less irritation, at least

• #2796
Ok, I misunderstood and thought it was the rubberized surround on the shackle. But keeping dust and water out of your lock is useful too. Unless of course you know to lube with graphite grease regularly....

What's the cheapest Sold Secure Gold lock. From the list on the first page it looks like the OnGuard Brute - £25. Any better options than this?
-
• #2798
I can get an Abus Granit X-Plus 540 for £35 if you want? Not quite as cheap, but a very good lock.
-
• #2799
Another 15 quid will get you a New York Standard from Trendz. They are selling them for £45 but offering a fiver off for first purchases. The postage is free as well ( I think).

Still the one from Clas Ohlson I think on price.

I'd personally spend a bit more the quality of the finish is lacking imo.
i can get a mini d around my front wheel, downtube and a decent amount of bike racks
