I think you guys need to have a look at the stats on London's air quality, the implications on people's health (and cost to the country through the heath services) and the figures on car ownership. Then check yourselves.
Sure, taxing London centre passage to the older vehicles will solve all that. We know how much they care about the NHS and about our health.

Out of curiosity, based on the evidence you've read, why don't you think adding a tax to more polluting vehicles will discourage their use?
Or do you not think that there is a correlation between vehicles with higher emissions and air quality?
