  • Building a bike for the girlfriend and need some saddle advice. At the moment shes got a very flat saddle, kind of fizik shape and complains of pain in the usual bits.
She's only ever going to ride to work and back which is 30 minutes each way tops, and maybe a couple of casual riverside rides when the warm weather comes back. So do I go for more squishy since it will be more comfortable on shorter rides? She'll not be wearing padded shorts or anything.
Any recommendations for a saddle that's suitably squishy and with a cut out that doesn't cost the earth or can be found on ebay?
    Thanks ladies

  • I know this was months ago... people vary so much in the saddle department, but my all-time favourite saddle is a cheap Specialized women's saddle with cut-out and some padding but not too squishy. Sadly they don't make it anymore (it was about £25 full price) and while I thought for sure they should do something similar now - looking online I see two £30 options: Toupe Sport which is a similar shape to mine, but as a mens saddle I think the nose is longer, and the Myth Sport which is for women, and like mine aimed at MTB (should be fine for road). If it was me I'd probably take a punt on the Myth Sport.
