There is actually quite a lot of riding that goes on in the city - just a lot of it is shit. NYCC might be a good place to start for organised rides that venture both upstate and into NJ (but you will soon learn that pretty much every ride starts with an awkward roll-out uptown through Manhattan and over the George Washington bridge. There are also a few decent rides that incorporate a train ride from the city.
If you live on Manhattan then you will get used to doing many, many laps of Central Park (~10km)
Let me know if you have any luck on the gravel ride itineraries....id love to come along.
And of course, winter is almost here so there will be at least a couple of very harsh months, if not 3/4.

I moved to New York this year with my bike and wondering if anyone knows of a decent forum. Looking to meet people for some upstate group rides and maybe some famous american gravel rides. Can't find much in the way of decent clubs here either. Cheers.
