today is 'dia de la raza' in colombia, a holiday recognised across most of south america founded on discovery of the new world.. but since columbus landed in the west indies in 1492, south america has had to deal with:-
slavery from africa
loss of antiquity
displacement of indigenous people
new religions
corrupt ideology
but at least the europeans brought football..
