• and I couldn't use the end cable guide either, the bend was too sharp, so it was cable-tied it a bit further up the chainstay.

    Stupid idea: Combine your chainstay end guide with the reverse of this picture (The brake arm can be refitted 60degrees forward/backwards of the normal position) So refit the brake arm into an forward position-

    There could be problems with enough room... :) + cable has to pull downwards.

    That setup was done, just because we could - and to see how well it
    worked (which was fine). The Avid mech arm can be re-installed every
    60 deg, because it sits on an hex key.
    The return spring was
    re-positioned to provide a similar return force. The frame was
    designed to handle the earlier version of BB7 caliper, which had a
    longer arm, but I did not have one handy to modify by the time this
    project happened. The pictured setup is on a MTB tandem, and there is
    no shortage of braking power.

  • I think I get the idea, though I'm not completely sure. I also sold mine a few years ago, so it's too late to try it out. @Cupcakes is having the problems now, might work for him.
