I had the same problem fitting a BB7 on my Pompetamine.
Makes more sense now, re. generic adaptors. It did fit, but only just, there really wasn't much clearance. I had to trim the cable extension to almost nothing, and I couldn't use the end cable guide either, the bend was too sharp, so it was cable-tied it a bit further up the chainstay.

In my experience of Pompetamine ownership, I used BR-M755 brakes which are natively IS mount :)
