I agree with where you're coming from. This site can also skew the price in the other direction, I guess it's because of the nature of the site. Even though it is quite large now, it still has a community vibe to a degree.
The point I was trying to make with the quote was that with a few of the discussions on other sites, from doing quick searches, a lot of them come back to this original article with the claim. According to who though? Surely if this was true, it would be more well known through the cycling community? I'm not saying they aren't great bikes, I like them and think they look well made, but along with a lot of things it seems the myth is adding a lot more to the story.

Totally agree! I guess the scarcity of information about the brand only adds to the perceived desirability which, to be fair, is grounded in what appears to be great craftmanship. The lack of reliable information creates a situation in which every blogger or self-proclaimed 'journalist' can basically write whatever they want or better whatever the reader wants to read. I guess the 'holy grail' statement is the result of a lack of information in combination with what is obviously a beautiful frame. It does not mean, however, that the frame is any more collectible or special than other quality frames from other small scale manufacturers. But we all know that there is a certain type of people who prefer to own something only a few people have ever heard about...

That MAX one on the polish ebay is exactly the same as one that just got sold in Switzerland now for around 600 (but with a better groupset).
Just seen this topic and wanted to post it but sadly it's gone.. -

The first one belongs to my girlfriend. I liked it and bought the slx from paibikery (Italy), then got jealous of the genius frame and went all out for the MAX. Is three too many?

Really trying their best to make that frame look shit.
Couldn't agree more with you and I think were on the same side. I would never ever pay Cicli Berlinetta Prices - au contraire, I paid 60€ for a complete Colnago Super for instance. My only point is that LFGSS is a rather tough market and prices which are above what is considered acceptable on here can still be market prices as long as there is an idiot (read solvent/willing buyer) who is willing to pay that kind of money for it.
A friend of mine is working in private equity and the bonuses they charge for luxury cars appear ridiculous to anybody who knows their shit. However, this is because the market is not just made up of experts so I would argue that a frame's worth is its market value in a given market. If said market contains people who are willing to pay as much as asked, then the frame's worth to the seller is the asking price that is being paid by the buyer.
It's a rather special market, somewhat similar to the art market as there is no perfect cross-elasticity between frames of different makers because their value in the eyes of the buyer is determined by subjective factors of personal taste and preference. That being said, I fully agree that 750€ is not a good deal for that Frame :)
p.s. the holy grail Quote is really not helping, you're right. Will delete it from the initial post so as not to give prospective sellers a reason to charge a premium ;)
