Didn't read it through, because life is too short to read handset battery life comparison articles, but it's surely not really a surprise considering the comparison is between 5"+ phones and and a 4.7" phone - larger form factor tends to equal larger battery, no?

I think it might be the first version of ios10 rather than the handset. ios10 is killing my iphone6

I have the 7+.
Getting a day and half out of it with medium to heavy work / personal use which is more than enough.
Haven't managed to make it get to 20% warning yet (had it since launch).

How representative is that of normal use though? I pretty much always make it through the day with at least 25% to spare by bedtime. That includes listening to podcasts all day at work, a bit of browsing, texting etc and maybe playing some games. If it's a heavy usage day then it gets plugged in for an hour at some point.

That said, all the journos I know carry chargers and power banks...

am I blind?
how do I reverse iCloud upload without it deleting everything from my laptop? Shall I click 'Keep a copy' then delete everything from iCloud?

That's how I understand it: keep a copy will break the link between iCloud and your desktop without deleting anything. But I see this was an hour ago; what was the result?

you were right

have been working from home recently while i get used to some new meds i'm on
decided to upgrade the o/s on this macbook pro the other night and next morning my vpn connection to work has disappeared.
turns out they dropped pptp support from the o/s. luckily there an app (shimo) that lets you still make the connection which i could use the months free trial to get onto the vpn asap but it's 50 quid or so for the software so kind of pissed off that i have to pay for something that worked perfectly fine pre upgrade.
i understand there are security implications in pptp but it doesn't stop my company from using it as the sole protocol fml.

Not sure about pptp soecifically but i rely heavily on viscosity qnd its been really solid

we're looking to get a production mac at work, a laptop to use out on shoots to copy rushes as well as running avid and premiere so you can view and edit on the go.
Specs below good enough? Let me knowMacBook Pro - 13"
Processor: 3.1GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7,Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz,
Memory: 16GB 1867MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
HDD: 1TB Flash Storage -
• #9714
Yeah, it would work but... The 13" doesn't have a discrete gpu, which would make those programs run noticeably better.
The thing is, you only get discrete gpus with the 15" models, which are obviously more expensive.

• #9715
depends on what sort of editing you want to do, if it's just selects and basic edits you'll be fine, although I'd never recommend using a 13" screen for editing.

If they don't announce the event to announce the new MacBook pros this week I'm going to have a middle class melt down. They usually announce events 2 weeks or so before them...

When are new mac book pro's supposed to drop?
Work have the finger on the trigger of the top spec 15" and want to know whether we should hold off for a couple of weeks for the latest one to be unveiled?
Let me know.
-
• #9723
If you need one now then don't wait. Could be a week, could be three months.
-
• #9724
when's there next event due?
If that's just around the corner could wait to see what happens with that? And if no word pull the trigger straight after.. -
• #9725
All the rumours are this month.
Then again, if that doesn't happen then all the rumours will be next month. Personally I'd wait until the end of this month.
