You might get away with them, but they have very thin side walls, and if a side wall goes or if you find you get a load of pinch flats it'll be an absolute pain in the arse. I don't think you will notice the weight that much once loaded.

Yes I'm not sure if I like to take that risk.. I've also read that finding 28" tyres over there is almost impossible. Thanks for your advice, I will think about it!

What tyres are on this?

I do like the blue Disc Trucker and Surly make it in a 64cm. Would be perfect for my 2 mile journey to the post office..

Finding myself strangely drawn to this massive Dutch bastard as a day to day London bike. Not sure anyone even sells them over here. Which is ludicrous. Nice and slow.

It's serving me greatly! 2.2 inch is dit, net een haartje te groot (spatborden lopen soms ietwat aan).

In the three weeks I was touring I only had two wet days on the bike, so can't complain. Of course this was in the summer. On the hottest days it was already 35 degrees around noon, which on the bike felt like 40+. By then I just stepped on the bike at 6 in the morning and stopped in the afternoon when it became too hot. But yeah, had an awesome time! Love the frame/bike.

Gazelle do something very similar at a similar price. We sell them, in York though.

Decathlon / btwin have a range of overbuilt town bikes, albeit without the front rack. They seem to have uglified the range even more this year, though. You'll definitely be able to find something like that in the UK.

I think you will regret buying one eventually. It probably weights more than 20kg and is not much fun to ride on. Unless you only use it on 1 mile rides to the supermarket.

Compton Cycles is a great place for dutch bike, I brought my mum a Gazelle from there.

My epic new tourer. Needs flats for riding some REAL miles

Not flat enough. Burn it and start again.

more porn that 98% of the bikes in bikeporn IMO (and I hate Italians)
Damn that's a cool bike!at the risk of insulting you, maybe go for a wide narrow upgrade sometime?
Yeah i quess you are right! I was hoping i could get away with some lighter tyres. I don't really like the fat anti punture layer... the 700x37 conti country plus is already 850 grams.
