Yup, but the SRAM centreline rotor are pretty good.

I get a strange buzzing noise under braking. Front wheel only. Sort of a soft clicking noise, anyone had this? Any ideas? Braking is fine otherwise

Check if rotor is straight, check pads alignment (using white background of a phone), check rotor clearance against the adaptor (if you're riding with post mount), check calipers clearance with the spokes, check if wheel sit correctly and quick release is tighten, check if the pads actually bite the rotor (i.e. not too high or too low, you can see the reside mark on the rotor).

Can I use Jagwire Hydraulic Hose with my Shimano RS785 disc brakes?
-
• #2457
I er on the side of caution and suggest going for Shimano's own (unless the Jagwire one is specific for it).
Long story short; wrong hosing can actually reduced braking power (hosing swell up).

Thanks ed, for some reason i've always got more clearance on the wheel side of the calliper... it never seems to want to centre no matter what I try. The disc is truish... but the calliper just wont centre the pads around it. Hmmf.

When you tighten the calipers, it may move under pressure, so if it was centred, it won't be after tighten the bolt.
Also the mount may need facing to allow the calipers to sit perfectly.

The mount needs facing - I got them to sit correctly but after a few miles riding the caliper almost slips out of alignment because it's not bearing onto a flat surface... Irritating. Thanks for your help.

Strange issue with one of my SLX levers today. Difficult to explain, but when the lever is pushed the opposite direction from normal (as in away from the bars) the lever usually feels supported and springs back to it's normal position (as set by the lever reach adjustment screw), however it no longer does. It's just loose and rattles around a little.
Function is normal other than that. The pads do need replacing shortly and it could probably do with a bleed too.

Have you lost the little spring that sits between the lever and the adjustment plate? Only other time I've seen this is when the cylinder gets stuck but if you say the brake is working as normal, then that's not the problem.

Does anywhere sell Shimano hydro levers without the host and caliper? Got some calipers off ebay and I don't have anything to connect them to.

Do these rubber boots serve any function?

Doh, they list them under "Brake Spares" rather than "Brake Levers".

If your rear caliper is mounted on the chainstay rather than the seatstay, the end of the cable points up. Water can collect inside the outer by the BB.
(PX London Road has this problem)

Which is the correct category. Hydraulic brakes are usually sold as a complete set and it's quite unusual for anyone to buy caliper, lever and hose separately hence they are spares. Oh wait... ;)

You're on the money there. Pulled two bits of broken spring out this morning.

Can you even get this in the UK still?
Yes, no problem using discs from a different vendor to your brakes. I have the reverse to you, SRAM rotors and Shimano disc calipers.
