Moving out of London

  • Honestly, it seems very cool. Not missing a London at all at the moment. We got the keys on Thurs evening and between visitors and stopping the baby throwing herself down the 7 flights of stairs, we still haven't unpacked properly. Will update properly once we have the internets plumbed in, furniture and food.

  • I know some very cool people who live in Kent.

  • I know some very cool people who live in Kent.

  • A mate of mine just moved to Kent, I visited her and her new baby while I was over and it was a bit terrifying in a George cross, bald fat blokes, Bull Terrier kind of way... They were EVERYWHERE!!!

  • They are to Kent what hipsters are to Shoreditch ..

  • So how did you source the George Cross and bull terrier?

  • Don't get me started, Oli...

  • Lived in London for about 3/4 of a year, swore I'd come back one day.

Thought I might job hunt recently...a shame job prospects and earnings in my field are tied to the crude price, as I'd be back in a jiffy!

Looks like I might have to enjoy some constant sunshine, fresh sea air and good food instead for a while longer in Aus. I should really stop taking it for granted...

  • You're better off where you are... 🏝️🐨🌅

  • @>>>>>> I sure hope so. I think I'm going through a little grass is greener or itchy feet.

  • @Apone, what's the word...?

  • London -> Kentfordshire -> Capitalist Republik of Surrey?

  • Hampshire for me, for preference, but that's also too much debt for me to wish to take on.

  • I would not want to return to live in London. It's nice going back for work and social things but am loving the relocation to the countryside.

  • I'd move out of London in a jiffy but the wife goes a bit mental if you take her away from a big city for more than a day or two.

  • Arrived in London in December 1990. Lived in Balham, Tufnell Park, Kensington, Raynes Park, Forest Hill, Lower Sydenham and then Forest Hill for the last 15 years. Commuted by bike almost all that time.

We have just sold up and are renting in Oxfordshire, and I drive 27 miles to work each day. A whole different lifestyle. We buy bog roll in bulk, we have no neighbours and on weekday nights we can hear the chinooks doing night flight practice. I don't know if I like it 100% but there are many London things I don't miss at all.

  • I was hoping it was going to be more like this: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-56952067.html

Which seemed an absolute bargain if you've got the boat/helicopter/business plan to go with it!

  • I'm just about to move out of London... only been up here for a year and a half but I've loved it. I've worked here for years and the flat is close to where I work so it's win win... saying that, I'm looking forward to moving home (Essex) as I'll be five minutes from the 2012 Olympic mountain biking trails. If we could afford to buy elsewhere, Norfolk, Windsor and St Albans would all be on the list... train journeys to London aren't too bad but the ticket prices are way more than the misery line

  • looks into employment options

  • Sellafield

  • Have they got the Homer role filled?
