Ouch. Sounds tough day out, I'm not sure why but loose shoelaces are more annoying than they should be, that's why I (road)race with Locklaces.
Taper started with steady 10km headtorch run last night and woke up today with obligatory sniffle & sneezes.
Hope others are enjoying the float-day today, am off to buy Grapefruit and other sources if vit.c.

I can confirm that first leg in the national 6 stage road relays is about the most insane quality field you're likely to come across outside the Olympics. I was an almost identical 75th/87 back in 2009. Ugh. Good work!
74:41 for me yesterday at the Great Eastern Run half marathon. A season's best, but I faded again in the last three miles and lots of work to do before VMLM 2017 where I'll be hoping for a similar time at the halfway split. Still, we packed well, I had two club mates ahead of me so it appears as though we've won the team prize comfortably. MsPub had an absolute stormer, knocking a minute off her PB to finish in 75:13, 2nd woman overall and 1st British woman prize. Looking good for international debut at 50k in less than five weeks.
well yesterday was brutal. 3.6 miles of undulating tarmac in 19:36. I was 76/82 on the first leg and was dead last for the first half mile. shoe lace came undone with about two thirds of a mile to go and i tried to just run with it, that has never happened before.
Conditions seem pretty good today for whatever running people are doing.
Enjoy the taper @rhb don't let the madness get to you.
