It is possible to fudge a tool if you cannot get hold of a proper puller.

Check out the boa website. They will do amazing stuff if you ask them nicely.

Cheers, given them an email. I'm expecting to be told it isn't possible, in which case I'm trying to think up a (more secure than a wood screw) bodge.

I'm trying to install a rear brake into my Brother Classic frame. I have some old Shimano Sora brakes with the recessed nut for the mounting screw. Everything fits in the frame well, but when I tighten the nut all the way, there is still maybe 3mm left to tighten, so the brake calliper is floating all over the place. Any idea what to do? Should I be looking for some spacers/washers to pad this out?
Hopefully can see what I'm on about in this photo.

You need a washer between the brake and frame.
Check your part bin, it usually come with a washer.

Exactly that, most LBS should have some spare lying around.

I was knocked off a motorcycle I was a named driver on. I am also a named driver on missus' car, does she need to tell her insurance about it come renewal time?
-
• #79464
It won't do any harm to tell them especially as it wasn't your fault (supposition). If they were to find out without your notification it could be a world of hurt.

Yeah it wasn't my fault MIB (he drove off after making sure I was alive) sided with me. Cheers

I have a mini-rig that sounds pretty good. Its loud and I've got a little blue tooth receiver. Its no worse in my opinion than a car stereo that's audible.
Reassuringly heavy and the batteries last for hours.
On the cycle path network people can hear you coming a little way off, can track which way the sound is coming from and they mostly move out of the way. It saves you that aggressive bell sounding as you get close and people freeze or looking up into the sky thing which people do when they hear a bike bell.
I only ever play the sound track from Pitch Perfect on repeat. Its the least offensive thing I can think of.

Is your model waterproof?
It can rain any time in this place ;)
I've recently taken receipt of some second hand S works road shoes, they were cheap because the guy said that the LBS had replaced the bolts on the boa dials with screws, but that they still worked perfectly. Stupid me didn't look any further than this, and just assumed his LBS didn't have any Allen bolts the right diameter/length. When they arrived though, it turns out that the actual post in the middle of the boa dial is snapped, so a threaded bolt doesn't work anymore.
The screw does seem to do the job, but obviously I'd rather not ride something that may snap mid ride and leave me with a very wobbly shoe.
Is there anyway of replacing the entire boa assembly, base and all? You seem to be able to buy them but I'm not sure how one would then go about fixing it to the show and removing the old one.
