  • +1. So many scars.

First surly to ever exist with 0 spacers.

  • Few things to tweak still, they will be trimmed down soon enough

  • Oooooooof those mudguard stays are deadly!

I still have a mark on my knee from scraping one of those pointy tips like two months ago.

  • Best front rack for a troll? I already bought a tubus tara but it is too narrow.

  • Tubus Duo maybe? (I say maybe, I've seen pictures of them on Trolls but never looked at how well they actually fit...)

  • Yeah i think in that rack too and omm sherpa.

  • Had some proper single track fun the other day with the 2.0 tyres fitted. in the real world they don't really fit, I lost some chain stay paint.

I wonder if a framebuilder could crimp/widen the stays some more for a few MM more clearance?

  • Yeah the instagram picture above is great if you live somewhere where it never rains!

  • it's always sunny on Instagram

  • It's always filtery on instagram :-)

  • Conti RaceKing isn't the sort of tyre you use on mud.

  • Just been trying to put some sks bluemels on my wife's straggler.
Rear stays fit fine, just need a little trim so they're snug around the 32mm tyres.

Disc brake caliper totally gets in the way of the front stay though. Is the forum-approved work around to take the stay from the mid-fork mount and just do a bit of bending and chopping, or am I missing something obvious?

  • I'm sure some one can explain it better than me, but there's a way around it

  • Cheers - I'd actually just seen that top pic, browsing for fixes. I think the second option seems a little precarious, so I'll get my pliers out and have a bash at bending around the caliper. Hopefully I won't cock it up!

  • If you have a Vice of some sort, mark where you need to bend them and use that, instead of wrestling with pliers

  • I've fitted fenders both ways - the second option isn't as bad as it looks. You'll probably need big pliers if you go that route (or a vice as suggested ^...)

  • Proud new Pacer owner. Quick question while we are on mudguards. Do you reckon I'll get 42mm Bluemels in there on 28mm Grand Bois tyres? My 35mm Chromoplastics are a tight squeeze. Any ideas?

  • Very nice, just out of interest, how tall are you and what size frame did you go for?

  • 183cm and 56cm. 1st ride this morning and it seems just right.

  • Ah good, I'm about 177 and I've gone for a 54. Not that it will ever actually turn up mind you...!

  • my 35mm bluuemals fit on there perfect with 28's

  • Cheers, Perhaps I'll try the narrower bluemels. Read online they have a smidge more clearance than the Chromoplastics due to shape. I think the tyres are actually closer to 30mm despite being labelled 28s. I'll measure them later.

  • I've got a 'Rust' coloured Cambium on my black straggler. Looking for some bar tape to match. From all I hear the brooks tape is absolute tat. Anyone got any suggestions / used anything themselves?

    Just go for black?
