  • do you have anything similar to that in north?

  • There's the Rapha HOTN route(s), which you can cut sections out and adjust to suit relatively easily.

    Here's the most recent one.

  • The condor one looks good as it passes over the top of Bec Hill, If I timed things right I could stop and watch some of tomorrow's hill climb competition!

  • Thanks @Jon. looks good and goes over the top of Bec as well!

  • Little bit of a stir at the National Trophy at the weekend. Isla Rowntree finally called it a day in racing against the elites and has moved into racing as the V40 that she has been for a few years now. She held the front of the field all the way round and broke away on the last half lap to take the win from newcomer to the category Verity Appleyard. Did it single speed on a fast dry course. Absolutely rock hard.

  • Bloody overachievers

  • Yeah, she was handling the sandbags pretty well which was pretty good because they had got fairly bashed out of shape at that point.

  • Chapeau to @Ecunard for completing The Three Peaks.

Anyone doing the central league tomorrow?

  • Anyone doing the central league tomorrow?

Leighton Buzzard? Never raced there - is it any good?

  • I have no idea. Easy to get to though from Euston, which is enough for me. Looks like it'll be rainy

  • I'm racing at Welwyn tomorrow, my first proper race despite me intending to do the majority of the season.

    1. Any last minute tips?
    2. I have two different sets of tyres in the shed, Challenge Limus from my old bike, and Rocket Rons which came with the new one. Which would be better suited to the course (which I've never done) and the weather (which I haven't looked at)?
  • Take both, run the Limus if it's really muddy.

  • You think that I'm more likely to need the Rocket Rons? I need to put one set on now at least because it's currently got my commuting tyres on.

  • given that it's due to rain there from now until 5pm, with heavy rain in the morning it's likely to be muddy.

  • It's barely rained for the last 3 months. It's set to rain tonight and tomorrow, but the course will only get really muddy if there's racing on it whilst it's actually raining, otherwise it'll be sticky but not Limus muddy.

  • One of last season's final races in February was there, and, remarkable enough, I did not have to wash the bike afterwards so it's fair to assume it drains well. Probably be slick but not the sort of deep mud you get towards the end of a season.

  • Get there at 12, practice the course before the 40+ vets and swap tyres while they race if needed.

  • Good call. Are you up there tomorrow?

  • No, doing the next two though. Signed up online.

Had to watch the return of the Mac today against dirty filthy cheating Leeds.

  • I'm not racing today after all. Woke up feeling pretty miserable so I'm going to watch the Worlds instead.

  • Pro cross in Zonhoven (with the spectacular descent into the sand pit) today as well - great couch day
