  • Could be, he looks into your eyes for instruction like collies or german shepherds. I'd love to take him on but the other half can't do it. We already have a tiny one too.

I hadn't thought about them being fashionable as we see a lot of smaller dogs around here (barring a few clearly crazy choices!). His brother was very happy with him but eventually his allergic reaction hospitalised him and Ruben took him on. He can just about cope with him but it's been borderline recently. I don't think he'll consider a rescue situation anyway, it would have to be re-homing. We are going to contact a few old friends further afield and see if they know anyone. He'd make a great guard dog for a family house, he's totally used to children and other pets.

  • Yeah, Akita's are lovely dogs but became status dogs because of their fighting heritage. Lot's of unsuspecting people, or just the wrong people, ended up with dogs that can be a real handful without proper socialisation - large, dog aggressive, high prey drive, etc. So you see lots of them needing rehoming.

I hope your friend finds a good home for this one, he looks great. I'd be in a whole heap of trouble if I took on another dog right now...
