Tips for Sram Installation

  • First time Sram user about to attempt installing a Rival groupset this weekend, only have experience of Campag and Shimano, any tips? Not sure if double tap is much harder to set up or anything to watch out for?

Found this but any additional hints welcome!

  • I've set up a Force 10 speed last week. The only pain is to get the shifter cables in the shifter, what a shit design.. I ended up taking the plastic cover off and use a plier to push the cable through.. And make sure you do the cable the right way at the rear derailleur :)

  • Cheers yeah I've read a lot of posts about the cable being difficult to thread. I'll take the cover off for sure. I think the bikeradar link has a picture of the correct derailleur routing?

  • Jep 4 shows it. I bend the first centimeters of the cable with some pliers so it followed the curve. Also make sure to use a new cable, saves a lot of irritation ;)

  • Cheers. I've ordered a new jagwire cable set arriving today , I'm praying the inners are soldered one end, not double ended as they seem to vary. Hopefully not as they only say sram/shimano, not campag

  • There's a trick to getting the cables in easily. It's very hard to describe though...all about pressure and angle. You are on the right lines using something grippy like pliers, but you shouldn't have to discombobulate things.
