  • Top pics Saarf! I must find some rather old pics and place them on the thread from no19 via Cavour before they moved across the road... cheers! cc

  • Please tell me you stole something from his office?

  • no way, I was like a school boy in there, he asked if I did L Eroica, I said yes and the ''Concurse D' Elegance" showed him my crash wounds swore my loyalty and told him Vai Colnago with a double fist pump, he then took a book out of the cupboard and personally dedicated it to me
Alex Colnago was great, he verified some frames for me , said that they were happy for me to keep appraising, and their right hand sent me catalog files,
also got inside musuem and was left on my own in there, but pics are shamefully bad, so will try to pick best
I spoke to Laura, the next model for 2017 is the monocoque Concept, made in Taiwan, they will not be going the Cinelli route (get involved in contemporary culture)
I also met and was pic with Mr Antonio Colombo on the same day

  • Thanks mate, good to meet you! I'll ''holler when I'm in the hood'' ))

  • he never stood that close to Enzo Ferrari or Pope John Paul ay ? ))))
    the build

  • I'm quite envious of your trip to the factory.

I met Ernesto myself once, was in a bike shop in Mendrisio on the morning of the Giro di Lombardia, which was starting in the town. They had some NOS Colnago frames hanging up and my mate and I were checking out a beautiful 1987 (we think) Master, when this small, elderly gentleman came over and said, in Italian, "that's a good one", we looked up and it was Mr Ernesto Colnago himself.

  • Thanks, gutted about the factory pics, but the office pic is priceless
I spoke to Alex about my Carbitubo mono, he said it's a very rare frame
I also showed him my 1st gen c40 , he knew Herman Frisson, but said the internal cable routing was not factory spec, none of the c40's in the musuem are fully round tubed, as one of us here mentioned earlier up this thread, so mine is very early
Alex aslo confirmed the Beppe won on a Nuovo Mexico
I asked him if there are any marks to look out for on Gloria bikes from the mid to late 60's which would indicate his fathers hand, he said no, but in the musuem there is a Gloria that Mr Colnago rode and won on
He confirmed my Super CX as original , and whilst at L'Eroica , got chatting with a Californian would bought a nuovo mexico in same decor, same ear , with a riders name, so I'll try to search name and add era to see what comes up

  • I turned up 15 miutes early, and saw Alex walking in , whilst i was was parked on the premises , so I took my glasses off and stood to attention and he smiled
and said Laura would not be long
Once I got in , I left my bike against a wall a took out the gifts I'd brough to the
King of Lombardy and his factory

Laura told me about Mr Colombo , that she'd worked with him , and to see him, when I left I kiseed her hand and thanked her,
by the time I checked in my real cheap digs (Milano hotel last min 50 euro)
the cat files had arrived from Laura
I spoke to Mr Colombo, saying who I'd just left and he confirmed he worked with Laura, I will send her the gallery images

  • not sure if stronging it if I send him a signed, personally dedicated copy of that pic for his office

  • Do it! Old school Italians love those things.
Hopefully he will use it to replace the pope picture behind his desk... Habemus Nuovo Papam! Saarfo I

  • in the office Laura asked where I was from , I said "Irish descent , live part London , but my heart is in Cambiago"

    ya git me ;0)

  • Has anyone seen this colour scheme before?

  • No-Its very nice though

  • My C59 head tube is getting worn by cable rub. Is it naff to use those rubber cable protectors? I notice Condor put them on my friend's bike.

  • How about heli tape?

  • It's a matte almost naked carbon finish and would be in a prominent position.

  • shit , might get to meet yoda next

  • I don't have a picture, but I believe that I've found an early 80's colnago superissimo with almost full dura-ace.....it's 54 cm square and a fetching shade of red, with slight speck king to the chromed forks and chai stay, although the head lug is fine. What's a ballpark figure of what it's worth? Calling @saarf

  • this model does not achieve master prices (yet) on the bay
nice pieces , top wnd eBay money 750 ish, if tidy 350-500 fair, I got a super Pui in clackton with Veloce for 500
    hope this helps !

  • Thanks fella, it's sort of confirmed what I thought.....they want £500 for it, but I can probably get it a bit cheaper. My thoughts, as it is too small for me, was if it is cheap, I could buy it then sell it to someone for the same price, to save it getting sold on for a lot more money by a dealer....but it doesn't seem to be a super bargain. Thanks!

  • got a Colnago 'Aluminum' frame set hanging , was 100 euro ,not sold , may have a Daytona 2x9 gruppo for the same , got donor black ritchey cockpit and seat post, may make a beater / bike to lock in cities
rattle canned seat post clamp , will get a black fsa headset, de sticker donor wheelset so black rims, spokes n' hubs
