    Maybe for a touring bike it makes sense to have something serviceable anywhere, so loose balls might be better. In that case, I think the CX 75 is shimano's only 'road specific' offering, other than that it's Deore or SLX as I said.

  • Cool, thanks. I've found an old LX model which should have the higher quality bearings and comes in 'shiney sliver' which is a prerequisite for this build.
