Security as in criminal checks and terrorism checks?
That is a policing function not an immigration function.
I am in favour of policing.
Although, terrorism is a stupidly over estimated threat and nationalistic policies do nothing to prevent our nation from being a target.
To be clear. I am in favour of allowing anyone who wants to come and work and live here.
Immigration is a net benefit to the country and to its inhabitants. I like good things. I'd like more of them.
More immigration would increase our per capita GDP allowing for more and better schools and hospitals. I like those things.
I disagree with all staements that cast immigration as a worry. They are ill informed and emotional, at best.
People all over the world live in the most terrible situations and yet our country is involved in a massive hang wringing exercise about whether another half a million people here would be the end of our world. It is embarrassing how self entitled and selfish that is.
I bet no one in Haiti is worried about migration right now.

Anything else is just nationalism as far as I am concerned.
