  • Indeed but scapegoating should not be encouraged.

    The Shankill area here had big issues with xenophobia against Polish people. Their community group decided to explain the Polish fought hard in the RAF in ww2. Xenophobia reduced.

    Instead of doing that, while acknowledging there are issues too, real or whipped up, it's just pissing pole talk. I see this in many places btw not the UK. But that doesn't make it right.

  • Ironic, Churchill wanted to introduce conscription in NI because these wonderful loyal Brits wouldn't volunteer in WW2. Got talked out of it because civil war with the Free State wouldn't have helped the war effort.

  • It was more about trying to combat xenophobia. By the Shankill of all places, a loyalist stronghold. So it IS possible if there is a will.

    If you want to take a dump on NI/the loyalist areas, we could be here all day ;)
