What you ate today is the new what you wore in the commute thread?

My morning commute is currently sponsored by cheerios.

I'll be honest, the most terrifying bit of my commute is the first few miles of national speed limit winding narrow country roads. Drivers cane it along there and especially in the dark on the way home, I kinda dread it. On balance, I think I prefer riding in London.

Why did i never think about tea in the water bottle!
-
• #14933
Mine's just shy of 15 miles there and 12 home. 55-60 mins in 42-45 mins home.
Tea and toast for breakfast.
Various fruits and oatcakes for snacks
3-5 teas.
Random lunch depending on whether I've brought food in with me.
Banana

Wore long sleeves and bib-tights today and I didn't regret it.

Anyone got any suggestions for routing from Balham to Finsbury Sq near Moorgate that isn't the CS7/London Bridge/Bank shitstorm combo?

Looking at something similar (albeit from Peckham). Looking like Blackfriars Bridge, up to Clerkenwell Road, then loop around from the North via Old St roundabout...

I'd take Southwark Bridge and straight on through the filter at the end over Blackfriars, any day.

@mjw1988 Not a bad shout, that's actually not a great deal further than my usual ride.
I used to go that way when I worked in Waterloo and the new cycle lanes from Blackfriars up to Farringdon are probably a bit quicker than the stop/start you get from Borough-Moorgate. May give it a go tomorrow

Hadn't thought of that. Looks a fair bit quicker too, cheers!

Bunked off a bit early today and enjoyed being overtaken by a car which was being overtaken by another car which was being overtaken by a motorbike. The latter two into oncoming traffic.

Cycle home today full of RLJ-ing. It's getting more annoying somehow.
-
• #14942
Bit windy today wasn't it.
-
• #14943
Am I wrong to be annoyed by cyclists who approach lea bridge road from the south side, press the button on the pedestrian crossing, cycle across when the lights change and then charge off down the cycle lane on the north side?
Whislt I am waiting at the red light?!
It's probably ok but I do find it annoying cos not peds.

Was. Lovely tail wind this arvo. Felt like I had Tony Martin's legs.

Battersea bridge then embankment for days.
-
• #14946
Wait, you ride the embankment for days. Which one, the Mississippi?
-
• #14947
Glass all over the Embankment this morning - lorry has spilled a load of window panes near where the Chelsea flower show is held. Had just happened as I passed leading to lots of brakes and swerving.

If it's the crossing by the Princess of Wales then it's a toucan crossing, so it's for both peds and cycles.
There's another toucan crossing further up near the ice centre too, though one of the crossings in the stretch is just a pelican for peds only, forget which one.

Yeah that's the route I take, via Millfields and Powerscroft Rd. Nice smooth new path in Millfields too :)
Just 7 miles a day, I normally do it w/o breakfast.
Then:
-Eggs with veg n cheese n nuts or cooked breakfast with not too much bread and non greasy sausages
-Meat/fish and salad (and carb source if needed)
-High protein yoghurt/fruit (and a nana, porridge, nuts if needed)
With the occasional Snickers/Crisps/Pizza thrown in :)
