Thomsons have a rougher surface than a properly made seat post. It's possible that a lapped finish would stick better than one with machining marks on it.

Anyone got any suggestions for a seatpost that's 25.4 x 330 with zero set back that isn't Thomson?
Cannondale have an alu and carbon version on their books. God knows where you could get one from though. Maybe give CSG a call.

Anyone got any suggestions for a seatpost that's 25.4 x 330 with zero set back that isn't Thomson? I have a Thomson Elite inline seatpost on my Cannondale Synapse, and the fucker constantly slips down. I've torqued it correctly, and had that confirmed at my LBS. Used carbon paste, still slips. I can only guess that the smooth machined finish is incompatible with the stupid internal mounting system.
