So who is going to win Lombardia?
Poels
Uran
Lopez
Roche (underdog)Any thoughts?

The course is really hard this year, with a huge amount of climbing in the final 100 kms.
The form of a lot of the favourites is unknown, such as Dan Martin, Alaphillipe, Valverde, Poels, so it's hard to predict who'll be in contention but it's rare that a race as tough and prestigious as this is one by an outsider (like Oliver Zaugg a few years ago).

I think Esteban Chaves looked good at the Giro d'Emilia last week, so wouldn't be surprised to see him get a good result.

I fancy Alaphilippe. Its a beast of a course and looks set to be a cracking race. The startlist is fantastic, the benefit of the world champs being a sprinters course.

No Simon Yates, he's been ill this week so has withdrawn.

Rain forecast, so Costa should feature. Alaphillippe must be close to cooked at this point, has been doing ok in Canada and in Euro's but nothing of real note. Poels is nowhere to be seen at the moment after ToB.
I really like Ulissi or Brambilla for this, both a bit kamikaze on the descents and both Italian's who have stepped their game up hugely this season. Ulissi packing a decent sprint too.

Saw that and edit the post, but thanks for pointing it out. Darn shame as he has been in some great form.

Agreed, it is a shane. He'd have been a useful foil to Chaves, and packs a punch in a small group sprint too.

Don't concede bragging rights to hippy without a fight! :)

Brambilla is a good shout.
What has Kwiatkowski been doing for the last year? Barely seen him.

OBE neo-pro Robert Power turned up at the start after the race had gone. He chased them but to no avail.
Whoops.

I've heard no reports of Betancur bedwetting.

It's all action in Lombardy, Gesink has attacked with 58 kms to go, lots of splits and all the favourites in a group chasing.

I bet it's something to do with doping!
Eurosport are showing the Tre Valle Varesine race at the moment, approx 60 kms to go.
