I read this ad last night. I rode to work this morning as usual. While doing a little wheel fettling, I noticed that my own titanium frame was cracked all the way around the seat tube.
I fear this advert may be cursed.

A zoomed-in pic of the headtube for the people that have asked. You can make out a dark line an inch or so long (which I've assumed to be a crack).

sorry a bit OT but wtf- in the ads or reviews you always read shit like "indestructible", "for life" is it some misconception about titanium, cause all you hear from your mates or the forums is cracked titanium frames and not just Chinese, but US made as well.

Depends on if you blindly follow what the guys from the marketing dept say....
Nothing is indestructible. Not even Be.

Hi
Ive a Lynskey-built Planet X branded Ti Frame (one of these: bikeradar linky in 58cm ett, with bb, seat collar and mech hanger.
There is however what looks to be a hairline crack at the weld where the downtube meets the headtube (see the picture). Enigma have said £300 to replace the downtube. There's a replacement frame already so I'm not so interested in having the repair work done myself.
My thinking is that a new Ti frame is around £1000, so a non-cracked frame would be worth about £600 say. Repair at £300, so its "worth" £300.
I'm asking £100 as there's effort involved in the repair (also, the repair can possibly be done cheaper elsewhere)
The frame is currently at my office, near Cannon St. I'm happy to post up better pictures or arrange for anyone interested in it to have a look at it first.
Pm me if interested or questions!
jon
