  • older style MTB triples ,basically where there is no shaft connecting the two crank arms
    they can fit a road bike eh? with the appropriate BB - ISIS, octa, square t etc etc
    i'm finding newer road Triples to be expensive (or cheap but heavy)
    my bikes all running 9 speed (or less) would mean road STI would shift the ratio correctly on the front mech for shimano.

  • The chainline isn't that different, use the same length BB.

    Shimano 9sp MTB FD and Shimano 9sp road FD should move the same horizontal distance per click.
