  • ^Jim's car reflected in the bonnet of my Volvo.

  • This is awesome...

  • Big Sur is amaze.

    U see any Elephant Seals?

40 degrees an no air con in an air cooled beetle. :o)

  • Fuck yeah man!

When I did my 3 week coast to coast to coast trip, I started in LA with @Jung and another mate who lives out there. I went to Cars & Coffee the day before we set off and there was a mint E30 cab for sale, cheap. Such a huge part of me wanted to buy it and do the trip in that instead of the shitbox we rented because the Mini USA press deal fell through, but I pussied out. I'm regretting that even more seeing your Bug pics.

  • @Dammit that's a lovely porker. Congrats!
@hefty has put me off buying a 70s project car which is a shame as I've always fancied one but the old man reckons he's rather playing tennis with his mates.

I've see a nice 1983 Mercedes 380SL. Couldn't find any rust or the like and service record seems legit. Other than the timing chain issue that these cars have should I be aware of anything else before deciding to part with some hard earned cash.

  • Don't listen to hefty!

  • He's 'that forum guy', just do it!

  • *drops wad*

  • I'm falling in love with this car a little more every time I get in it. I wasn't really expecting to like it as much as I do. So solid, quality everywhere, no shortage of go.

Just had new wheel cylinders (£10 each), a new handbrake cable, a gasket for the leaking accelerator pump on the carb and I've got a rubber bush kit on the way for the rear struts as it's sagging a bit at the back. Plus I really want to get the bodywork done, just been quoted £700+VAT to get all the rust scabs, a bit of rot on the rear passenger side door and a bigish dent in the driver's door repaired. Sounds reasonable TBH and the guys in the bodyshop loved the car so I reckon it's the right place.

  • What did I say?

I'm sure I wouldn't have said don't do it, I have 2 70s project cars that I love owning. I can only imagine I gave you a reality check, which you are free to ignore if you are more of a heart over head kinda dude.

  • And plus it's JRG.

  • innit. It totally gleams though.

  • It's not when you're Jewish.

  • Nothing but sound advice.

  • HHHHHNNNNNNNNGggggggggnnnn!

  • Islero.

Did u see Moore Rogering's for sale.

    Sex chariot.

  • Where did you take it for the body work.

  • Er sorry if you have checked but the beetle shouldn't over heat, is the fan belt in good condition andthe correct tension? Is all the engine tinware there to circulate the air. What is the oil like? Worth while dropping the oil and replacing it with decent 20/50?

    Cool pics.

  • Friend recently bought a v8 vantage....for ALOT less than that....but his is a 7 cylinder ;)

  • My mondeo is either champagne or jrg.

  • A local body shop in Northamptonshire, they were recommended by a couple of people who are quite fastidious with their cars.
