I did take the bug in the end, was such a lovely drive. Took 9 hours total because we had a fair few stops for food, gas and photos. Also overheated once and had to stop. (Because I decided it'd be a good idea to try and overtake a school bus on a long hill in near 40 deg heat (oops)
