What about riding into town (Finsbury park) and getting Pizza at Papagone or something from Max's Sandwich both would be open and from memory only @youramericanlover got the train last time...
This being pretty close to the end of season ride and all.

Would be good to get a bit of 'spoons practice in before the IoW.
I think that the Station House locals are not big drinkers of mild, a couple of times it's been a bit fusty, like it's been sitting in the pipes for a while. Trick is to buy a round of them, hand round the first few and keep the last one drawn for yourself. It's an expensive gambit but that way you get to look generous and get a decent pint. This will backfire if the barrel has been sitting in the cellar all the way through a warm summer.

And he is eminently expendable.
I did actually consider doing something like this for the Chingford ride only with the Ferryboat at Toteringham Hale as the destination but then I missed the Chingford ride and they all had bad mild and karaoke instead.
This being pretty close to the end of season ride and all.
Dulux shenanigans aside it's the antepenultimate by my reckoning.

To prevent us getting lost, someone has kindly fly-tipped the entire PB route, at 100m intervals, with carpet tile sample flip-books. They're in the road, gutters, hedges, trees and gardens - it's like doing a sportive sponsored by Allied Carpets at the moment (they've even incorporated an asbestos feed zone on Cucumber Lane).

Now I feel extra "special". That also may be first but still favourite encounter with the word antepenultimate.
Anyway I don't have an opinion about post-ride as it's true I'm on a tighter evening schedule than the rest of you.

Is it bad enough to warrant a re-think?

Another Idea I had is to ride this https://www.strava.com/activities/724785112 which is pretty TNRC worthy and then go for food after.
I suppose the two issues with this idea are a 1)a bit too long and hilly 2)If people can only really get to the top of ally pally for 7ish/later then there isn't an advantage over traditional train routes in terms of it finishing earlier / more Pizza time.

No it's totally fine to do and I doubt we'll even notice it in the dark - I was pretty fucked off to see it though, particularly as it will be a massive pain to clear up I expect..

comon peeps, more chat about IoW. Should I bring emergency bivvy? 17 layers? spare seatpost? and numerous other classicly over-prepared novice tosh? #chancingfate
-
• #288
I actually could really do with borrowing someone's "spare" macrodrive @Rod_Munch ahem @Rod_Munch....unless of course you need it on the evening :(
Personally I will be wearing four wool baselayers, long fingered gloves, shorts with no padding and rapha dataprint socks. On the edge about gears v fixed tho

I reckon IoW could be my only outing of the season
-
• #290
No worries, I'll bring it.. you need it this Thursday too (or is it this Thursday you are talking about)?
-
• #291
Deal.
-
• #292
I'll try to even things out in my Rapha super cross aero suit.
-
• #293
Holy shit obviously I will be wearing the forum skinsuit instead. with the wool baselayers and baggies on top of course.
@Rod_Munch I think I should be ok for this Thursday (providing I can make it) but I was specifically referring to IoW. The reality is that I need to buy a Hope 1 I think :(
-
• #294
Hall pass granted, what time ferry should we aim for @middleofnowhere can you put an event thread up? I'll try to get some Bathonians to turn up :)

The IoW soiree is tentatively Friday 7th right? Hoping to make this having failed to get anywhere near a Thursday night ride.
-
• #296
I've been unsuccessfully and desperately trying to get people to cycle round the IoW with me for ages... The 7th is good. Consider this another name added to the list.
