Bike porn

Some more general thoughts on the thread. The way I understand it, aesthetics in this thread are not entirely subjective and personal.
This has been discussed numerous times here and I tried to sum it up in one of the earlier discussions.

It should be noted that the exercise of determining whether something qualifies as porn or not does indeed involve a subjective component. However, this subjective component should be understood as a margin of discretion which is clearly circumscribed by a common understanding of what constitutes a tasteful bike.

Imho, the harsh criticism is a vital part of this thread. Two years ago, the bikes that I built were more or less anti and lfgss and especially this thread has taught me a lot about how to build and set up a bike properly. From what I understand, the whole point of the thread was to post immaculate bikes that had been built (and photographed) with OCD like attention to detail. Which doesn't mean that those bike are any better than a proper rat or a sweet funcitonal one, it's just a different thread for a different category/style/type of bikes.
