Oh boy that could be good. I have a concept but it's at a visual level, need to work out the why.

Surprisingly good. And accurate. Think I might have to start trying to feed people disinfectant.

They do produce a very, very nice image but (from the voice of sad experience) they're not for the faint hearted - you need quite a lot of patience to get that nice image out of it and you'll definitely need some stabilisation which makes it not quite so 'pocket'...
They're also getting on a bit - 2012/13 - yet their price hasn't really come down. 820ish body only :/
This is a pretty detailed review if you're thinking of one:

Hi chaps. I'm looking to buy my first DSLR and have been pointed in the direction of a Nikon D3200. I want something that i can take a range off different photos with and something to learn the basics with i guess. Is this a good choice? Has anyone had one before? Thanks

I have one, they're good. Has automatic settings but you can easily switch it to manual as you learn how things work.
It obviously depends on the lens you go for, the common thing is to get the 35mm f1.8 prime for about £150. There are so many megapixels that you can easily crop to make up for the lack of zoom (or just walk nearer/further away).
With a zoom lens you can handhold at 300mm and still get solid pictures.
If you can get one cheap then go for it, the D3300 and D5300 do have some improvements but nothing huge if you're getting a good price.
This was all on a D3200 https://www.flickr.com/photos/mauwf/albums/72157636514478406 and https://www.flickr.com/photos/mauwf/sets/72157654470692581 (although bear in mind I'm very amateur).

This store in Brighton stocks a good selection of nikons.
Do mind though, since you are buying DSLR, you may need to buy filters too. (If landscape photography is one of the things you wanna try)

Anyone got any suggestions for a nice little compact point and shoot I can sling on my back for longer rides, that will stay in place to do some half serious speeds in comfort but also takes a decent landscape for the 'gram? Sick of fumbling around with zips and baggies to get the 6S out.
Have seen a few Sony's and Fuji's that get fantastic reviews, know jack shit about cameras though and don't want to spend more than 2-300 tops?

I'd suggest Nikon Coolpix A. It's good for what you plan to do. 28mm lens for landscapes. Its resale value does not go down quickly.

Seriously considering upgrading from the XPRO1 to the XPRO2. The reviews I've read online have been solid, that it's quite an upgrade between the two as opposed to just an incremental increase. Particularly the AF sounds much improved, which is the main frustrating point for me when using the XPRO1. Anyone made the upgrade have any thoughts or just general insight into the XPRO2 would be appreciated.

I currently own a Canon EOS 1100D and its just too cumbersome for me, I'm a graphic design student and I do photo for print. I was thinking about switching to a full manual hybrid like the fuji XPRO2 but it's maybe just not worth it and too pricy for a student. Any thoughts and recommandations is greatly appreciated.

An Xpro 1/2 would be a similar bulk, to be honest.

• #240
What exactly is cumbersome for you with the Canon /
what do you think would be the benefit of getting a XPRO2 instead? -
• #241
From every review ive seen the answer is xt2

This thread should be renamed What camera should I buy? A Fuji
-
• #243
I'd suggest Nikon Coolpix A
Good idea, but hard to find for 2-300 tops..

It's the size of it, I would like something more compact but still fully manual. Also the Canon is an entry level camera and I don't think investing in lenses for that camera is worth it unless I have a wrong idea about it all.

• #245
It's definitely as heavy but smaller and a higher quality body.

A6000 series might be a good shout, @c0gsucker loves his i believe
-
• #248
you should go for Pentax KS2, it is relatively smaller than most Dslrs but very good selection of lenses. 20.1MP.
-
• #249
It's true, I do enjoy my A6000.

Oh wow, wouldn't have thought prices have dropped that much!
Nice.
Should make a zombie film in the style of Cloverfield.
