Wheels: https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=140128;menu=1000,4,123,30
Light, wide, cheap, service-ableIf you are sceptical about china carbon (you shouldn't be) I'd get a secondhand 3T or something and acetone/nail polish remover the graphics off.
Stem: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KALLOY-UNO-AL-7050-Road-MTB-Ultra-Light-Weight-Stem-31-8-Black-/271560534101?var=&hash=item3f3a44e855:m:mkMZoPLZYmRa77Pl8cj7zlQ
Again acetone will get graphics off in few minsHandlebars: A very personal thing like saddles, depending on what you prefer but if you want to start short reach and shallow drop a good starting point is Deda RHM02 or 01. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/deda-rhm01-black-road-handlebar/
If you want to go loud i.e. not have plain black finishing kit I'd go Ritchey for matchy matchy. I am a fan of their classic range if silver works for you. The bars have same shape as their Neo Classics.
Pedals: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-essential-keo-compatible-road-pedals/ Lighter than Speedplay set up.
Do not try to save money on tyres. Get something decent like Vittoria Corsa G+ with a latex inner or butyl if you cant be arsed to pump them up before every ride.

Keep your eyes peeled on here.
You can pick up high end light things for cheaps. Started off well though well the logic. Great frame.
-
• #6
And yeah -- keeping my eyes peeled but as I'm a girl the short reach/narrow stuff is a bit harder to find!
-

If you check forums/ebay for ritchey stuff it can be had cheap. If you are sceptical of china carbon go legit alloy (ritchey, zipp, 3T etc).
DT are wider and lighter than aksiums. Aksium is false economy.

I've got these on my Road Logic, there ace and give a great profile to a pair Challenge paris roubaix tyres

You should be able to pick up a 105 group set for £300 ish too.

I've got a couple of those posts on MTBs. No complaints. Not the lightest, but they haven't broken yet and they're easy to set up. All Ritchey finishing kit would be a nice touch though. WCS alloy stuff can be found reasonably cheaply either On Here on on eBay and works well enough.

105 and wheelset went for 150 few weeks back

So far the cheapest 105 groupset I've found is from wiggle:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-105-5800-groupset/Anything cheaper out there?

Scoot has a pair of these handlebars on her bike because they've got a shorter reach, meaning you don't have to get such a drastically short stem.

For wheels, these are great value, light and decent width:

cool - these are also shorter reach FYI

True, I sold a 105 group with wheels for 150 on here. Think I might even have ended up dropping it down to 130 or something.
Keep your eyes peeled and take your time. There are a lot of bargains to be had on this forum.
Its also just a great place to chat with like-minded people and learn a lot. Welcome! -

Can't go wrong with these. I've been using them for a year and they've been great, they come very narrow and have as short a reach as any of the above but for a lot less money. After all, they'll be under tape. -

thanks! will keep my eyes peeled...
My only issue is that looking for shorter people (girl) sized items is a bit tougher even on ebay. Hopefully there will be some short people looking to unload :)

Wheels, there isn't too much between a £200 set and a £400 set. You need to get in to £500+ to get much better ones. So I would go for something like this

+
Some quick but tough tyres like

do you think a cranklength of 170 vs 172.5 is going to make a huge difference? (I believe I'm on a 170 right now). New to this bike building thing!
-
• #21
I'd look at Hunt wheels as well, I just bought a pair for my go anywhere bike having seen how nice my mate's pair of road ones were (he has the 4season aero and they're lovely).

Have you got your frame already?
Most parts should be standard size apart from as you said, narrower bars. As long as your frame is the right size, the rest should be easy finds. Good luck!
Once you get some bits together, consider opening a current project build thread so we can see it evolve and people can offer continuous help and advice if you need. -
• #23
You won't notice the difference no. But shorter cranks may be slightly better if you've only got little legs!
-
• #24
Try and stick with as short cranks as possible.

Van Eyck in Belgium still the cheapest one I think: €380 for a 105 groupset. Don't know if they ship to UK and at what extra cost.
Bakkerracing in NL comes in second at €385 for a full groupset, more options on the site. But also don't know about shipping.
edit: Hopmans have a 12-25 for €370 and a 11-32 for €380
sorry for euro pricings, too lazy to convert :)
First bike build. A Ritchey Road Logic. Going with a Shimano 105. I know I could spend ££££ if I wanted to (but I can't). I'd like to keep things reasonable but also have solid components that keep the weight down. Don't mind going with used components if anyone has any.
What do people recommend in terms of:
Particularly looking for anything that is out there that is particularly good value.
Cheers and thanks.
