a AAA ride the day after a bikefit with completely different position, new shoes and saddle is fucking stupid
Yes.

It's one of the hardest 600's by all accounts, scenery up there is epic, so that is the big motivator for me, spent a week in the lakes last summer and found some of the desents terrifying never mind the climbs.

It worked out OK, but probably made the ride more difficult than it needed to be, generally the changes in my postion feel good, but im not happy with the shifter position, got a follow up in few weeks. Everything else felt like an improvement!

Yeah, Tan Hill 600 is similar area if I'm not mistaken. It's stunning up there but fookin' lumpy!
Just looked - start of July might make it tricky if I'm caned after TABR.

It's still a risky move. Force something or give yourself an overuse injury and you'll just end up off the bike. #saysthedickwhogothisTCRbike3weeksbeforehand

Pendle 600 really is a cracking ride and is highly recommended. It is a hard ride, no doubt, but rewarding with some great views.
There is also the Pennine 1000 rerunning next year. This uses many of the same roads, with the added bonus of a trip up to Scotland as well. Just hope for better weather this year as it was truly awful this year.

They're a week apart. I'd entered the Mille this year but was waiting on my TCR bike.
Don't really want to throw another £50 down the tube so will wait until I know for sure that I can ride one of them this time. -

I'm quite tempted by the Pendle route, only I think I'll do it on my own so I can budget 6 days and actually enjoy it rather than grind myself to death on the hills!

grind myself to death on the hills
But this IS enjoyment

Last year's Pendle was h̷i̷d̷e̷o̷u̷s̷ ̷ a really good stepping stone to PBP.
-
• #5762
I'll enjoy it just as soon as I get down to 70kg*.
*Which will be just as soon as beer stops tasting nice.
-
• #5763
I'm 90kg and quite enjoyed the Tan Hill 600 which has about 8k climb vs. 10k of Pendle. I am fucking brilliant though so, you know, that helps when the terrain's a bit tough. ;)

Brevet 5000. Thank you 🇧🇪.
-
• #5765
Well done dude.
What's the big one? 25000? I need to bust out a 1000k and a 24hr team thing. Anything else? LEL?
-
• #5766
Brevet 25000: in a rolling period of up to six years: 3 Super Randonneur series, PBP or LEL, another ride of 1,300km or more, an event of 1,000 km, a Team Arrow or Fleche plus any BR or BRM events to a total of 25,000 km.
So PBP, LEL and a 1000km ride will do (you can't substitute a longer ride for the 1000km ride), and then an arrow or fleche, with a total of 25,000km.

It HAS to be a 1000k? How come a longer one won't do?
-
• #5768
Thank you. Big one for you is Hyper AAA SR to make amends for alps.

Hyper AAA SR
dafuq is that?
-
• #5772
4 X 600 SR all with AAA points.
-
• #5773
How come a longer one won't do?
Will on ^
-
• #5774
I'm not sure I've done more than 1 SR series so I'd have to do that again, twice. Plus the 1200k+ and 1000k rides and the 24hr thing. Or I could just forget about it and concentrate on TABR which is hard enough.

4 X 600 SR all with AAA points.
I'd have to do that in Perms I think. Are there that many 600s in the calendar?
Does a 2x1200k count as an SR?
Need to look into that. Everyone who rides big events seems to mention it.
