I used to race one back in 1984 back in the days of a leather helmet "Only because they made you wear a helmet" Sew ups and wooden cleats and toe straps. Back when I built my own wheels because you couldn't buy decent custom wheels in the USA back then. You ordered the parts from a "B&W line drawing catalogs" and had to build them yourself. Thought I was so cool having white Bennetto handlebar tape and the Italian flag on the inner handle bar tape. When I was riding if you were not on your bike and walked into a store to get some food they look you like "What is that get up?" "what is that for" no one raced in the states it was foreign Euro thing. Then a french racer in Monterey California was the first to be invited to race in the Tour de France and things began to change.
