I bought a job lot of doer-uppers last week. 7 watches, ranging from 1955 to late 1970s. All ticking but filthy. Some quite interesting watches. There is a Newmark (made in Croydon) and a Smiths in there.
I stripped, cleaned, oiled and reassembled the first one today. The brand is Puerta...not sure of its provenance. It has an EB 8021n movement.
6 hours from start to finish. Keeping good time so far and spotlessly clean now.
Which Smiths movement did you get? I have loads of spares. The cal. 27 and 604xx series are all quite nice to work on (they stole a lot of influences from JLC like the odd mainspring barrel / crown wheel arrangement).
