Hi All,
Has anyone found a bag that fits nicely in a Wald 137 basket? Waterproof preferrably. I'm using a pdw takeout bag at the mo, but its a bit to small and not really the right shape. Looking for something that fits just so.
Thanks!

For occasional use, is there any point in spending any more than the Tortec Ultralight?
-
• #284
Not really. I have an, some unused racks, you can have one as part exchange for that stem if you like. One is an anonymous one, the other a torte velocity hybrid (space for mudguards). The slanting panniers are quite nice.

Just spotted Alpkit has released some new panniers. Looks pretty good value. They have one as small as 5L without clips (strap attachment) for some minimal carrying.

^ These look great - might give one a go - alpkit prices are always hard to beat.
Before I splergh a load of money - can anyone forsee any issues with fitting a Tubus Vega with PDW fenders onto a Genesis Equilibrium Disc (2016 frame) ? I'm running 28s at the moment and I think I should have the clearance. For the difference in weight the Vega looks like a better long term solution than the fly with the mounts I have.

Anyone got experience with the folding Wald rear racks?
http://www.waldsports.com/index.cfm/store/rear-baskets/582-rear-folding-basket/
They look like they should be perfect for my load runner, but not if they're floppy and shit.

FWIW If anyones interested, the Blackburn Local Trunk Bag fits perfectly in the Wald 137 basket. Down to having velco straps on the bottom that hold it in.

Ortlieb and £5 of 3M tape?

I want something well designed, hi-vis & reflective, not a bodge

Anyone got a spare bike rack they'd like to sell?

Have an idea of combining ILE porteur rackbag with Pelago commuter medium front rack. Any comments on that, would it be too wobbly with rack being 220mm wide?
-
• #296
I have an ILE porteur bag I use on a Surly 24 pack rack and it fits well on that platform. I needed a larger bag for my work laptop so that was my starting criteria and the ILE was the best option. When I started looking at racks, I discounted the Pelago from my consideration because of that size difference.
It is a massive bag that holds more than my TLevel backpack. Not sure how much you need to carry around but the bottom of the bag is not solid. If you're just carring small amounts of "stuff" you're probably OK. Perhaps an insert (i.e: cut down estate agent sign) might help. But in my limited experience I would say try to get the closest match you can.
If you're stuck on the Pelago then maybe a Swift Industries or a Freight porteur/backpack might be better options for your choice of bags.

I have the ILE rackbag with the large Pelago rack. The rack is slighlty narrower than the bag, but everything works well ! I fear the medium rack may be too narrow...

anyone used or brought some of these panniers.

thinking of investing in some for the next jaunt to Paris in July. Liking the adaptability of the attachment mechanism and the fact they're waterproof, and look fairly robust..

I was inspecting these this very morning as a coworker has them.
Seem very sturdy, well built and reinforced/welded. The fabric seems thicker than Ortlieb classic, not sure how they compare in weight. He only bought them few months back, so far he could only vouch for waterproofness, not had them long enough to talk about durability.

cool, I'm not a fan of the ortlieb, bit too flouro for my liking, but I do like the build quality on them, and the adjustability of them to get them on racks and avoid heel strike.
If you have any more thoughts let me know, Amazon says they weight 1.2 kg, but I'm not sure if that's singly or the pair..
Just got an email back from Genesis, they have plenty of croix de fee forks in stock, but the mid mount on the fork is for a mudguard and they don't advise fitting a rack to any of their carbon forks.
So that's ruled that cheaper option out...
