Hmm maybe it was. Maybe before I'd met you. Gold bike?

No idea, never weighed it
The 51cm with a long seat post is 2012g for the whole fuselage, your spreadsheet says 2279g for the same bits of the Vig, so it's probably ½lb for yours

No, that would have been Andy. Before my time though, must have been about 2009
...and I've got the wrong man as well - it was Peter Dixon who came along one year in a Willesden shirt and won our HC

hippy is always right :P
Pete Dixon was flying a few years ago. He was smoking me in all the short stuff but I was training exclusively for the 24hr and I think he may have got a bit burnt the season after as I didn't see him much.

I think he had a bit of a hard time personally and dropped out of TTs. He got injured, lost his job, put on weight, etc.
I last saw him 2 years ago on a night ride to Southend and back. He was not slow but not the rider he had been a couple of years earlier.
I did see him another time riding in the Chilterns with a friend.
Maybe he'll make a comeback and try for some club records? ;-) -

I hope he does.

Sporting 27
We have discussed scrapping this event because support has not been good recently.
However if a few of you from this thread want to ride, I expect I can persuade the club to carry on another year at least. I know our Nic Stagg was keen to ride, and I think Loz, having converted his bike for the Hour was also intending to have a go, so we have got a nucleus.
So how many takers could we hope for from here?

I have no other events planned that weekend and it's local. I can stick a post on the time trialling forum to see if that attracts a few more entries?
-

What are the details?
-
• #14311
I'd be interested in riding it again if it goes ahead.

bit of a clanger at the westerly CC event yesterday, wrong finish used (they used the 10 finish rather than the 25) bit of a shame, hope it doesn't put them off running events next year, but a few upset people who did pretty big PBs will likely have them invalidated...
saw @eyebrows name on the start sheet but no time was up when I left so don't think he made it...
turns out riding with one arm isn't great, plus a power meter which now seems to be over reading, spent the afternoon updating the software so hopefully its all working correctly now!

Saw that mentioned on my feed this morning.
https://twitter.com/roballan07/status/777439728631177216Are there two finish line markings in close proximity or something?
-
• #14317
the 10 and 25 finish are fairly close, about 300yds apart I believe, gutted for those who smashed their own PBs as it'll likely not count, not such a problem for Kate as she'll only go faster over the next year, but for others who have chipped away/got a first 25 time and might help them get a start at event more regularly its pretty disappointing...

• #14318
Shit, I wonder how that happened?
I ended up DNSing so didn't go along.
The finish TK is usually someone like Jim Burgin or Mick Fountain so I can't imagine how it went wrong! I'll look into it. -
• #14319
@frank9755 I'm not sure what went wrong, there was no official course description on the start sheet, so don't know if that made a difference to the TK who was apparently Mick Fountain, there were a decent sized team out there but they were by the globe rather than just past the footbridge...
I guess even if they did realise half way they were stuck between a rock and a hard place, as they could either stick with the original and at least your have the correct placings for the race, or move and have a riot that an early starter had only had to ride 24.8 miles!
-
• #14320
Apologies all. What went wrong was that we simply used the wrong finish! As previously said, the TK was Mick Fountain who clearly is ultra experienced, and we had two assistants with him to call riders and phone times back. None of us noticed that the finish was at the '10' position not the '25'.
As far as I'm aware there was only one comment at the HQ that the finish was incorrect, but then I had a text later in the afternoon and a few popped up on the forum and Facebook.
Unfortunately, there's not much we can do post event. The only thing we can say is that it doesn't affect the placings. Unfortunate for those who hit a pb though.

Shit week. Decided to go wean lambs instead. Good decision.
Sorry to organisers for being a DNS dickhead. -
• #14322
Everyone who I've spoken to completely understands these things do occasionally happen, unfortunate but not exactly the end of the world. Otherwise a really well run event, please don't let it put you off organising events in the future!

Thanks. At least it wasn't a national champs with a comp record broken

Hounslow Sporting 27
Sorry to have to tell you this, but we have decided to cancel this event through lack of support.
Although there was some interest from this forum it wasn't sufficient to change the minds of my clubmates.
However there is a feeling that the event may be more successful as an early season 'hardrider' TT and I'd certainly be interested in your opinions on this.
The basic proposition is: A circuit TT (not on a flat course) with modest awards for the best fixed ride on scratch and handicap. I would hope to publish a report.
Up to now we've used three 9 mile laps of the 'Gracious Pond' circuit, but this is not engraved on stone and I'm open to suggestions.
Let me know what you think.

On the subject of a new SPOCO, a local club introduced a new open this year:
http://www.sotonia.co.uk/legloosenertt/
87 entries on a new hilly course, late in the season is pretty good going.Anyway @clubman I would have thought a basic page like that ^ should be enough to garner enough interest for a new event. I particularly liked the idea of a prime for the final hill.
It was probably me!
I think I remember you doing it a few years ago.
Andy always drives down so brings multiple bikes. I think he only did the HC once, with stripped down bike, new ultralight wheels, special saddle, etc. He didn't win it so he gave up and focused on other stuff!
