Heads up to anyone with an iPhone 6S or later – Lightroom mobile lets you shoot in DNG format...

Thanks for the headsup - don't have a 6S myself, but this is useful info for some friends of mine.
Is Lightroom mobile the only app that is allowed to provide a raw / dng file?

No, they've opened it up to developers. VSCO is being updated imminently to take advantage of it as well.
