First proper commute for a while, Luton to Dunstable via the busway, traffic free 5 miles door to door. Rally nice route but for some reason the track is compressed clay and stone. I fear it isn't going to be very usable in a months time.

Kuku Penthouse... hmm...
Absolutely impeccable L plated driver this morning: Left the whole ASL box clear, and gave me massive amounts of room overtaking.
Give that man a license and take it off some people that already have it (many ped crossing blocked AGAIN by impatient drivers...)

Service time meant a commute on the single speed plus bike.
Knackered yet rarely over 14mph!

p*ncture today, been so long since i had one the tyre seemed welded to the wheel - took 8mins to replace, luckily i was just a 1min from my house - as it was much darker and cooler than i expected i did not want to get cold outside, in the end i did anyway - its long gloves time for sure! full lights too for first 10mins of commute...
edit: woman in SEAT decided to undertake me on a roundabout - sigh

Also Buckingham Gate is so fucked at the moment. Seems like every building from Victoria street to the Palace has scafffolding up and then you have the traffic from taxis outside the hotel and single occupancy full size transit vans with drivers either on the phone or texting. Any suggestions for an alternative route from Vauxhall to Mayfair?

I am indeed :)

Up the main road, thru the clusterf*ck that is P Square, up Birdcage Walk etc? Palace Street and the roads connecting it to Buckingham Gate are also full of trucks and scaffolding. And they want to make Palace Street a Quietway?
I currently wind through by Tate Britain, down to Page Street, out on to Horseferry Road by the cafe, left by C4, right at the next roundabout and then down the back of House of Fraser but I think just as many trucks at the moment :(

hmmm so i thought my luck was bad this morning with a p*ncture - on the way how the rear hub started to fail and would intermittently spin round, not good trying to time getting out of a busy roundabout with non-indicating drivers - managed to nurse it home for an hour - resurrected good old spare wheel no.1 not before knackering an inner tube changing the tyre over in a rush for Dinner - Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, might try that. Just hate the road coming to parliament square from the west. So many dumb overtakes, getting beeped for stopping a per crossings and unannounced left turns. Maybe it's better to do belgravia, Hyde park, then into Mayfair through grosvenor square / brook street

Pretty standard day. Although stamford hill to and from work was a manic. To work - filter right of bus approaching bus stop, van in front brakes suddenly full lock on the brakes almost smash into the back of the van. To see a car in front stop to let woman cross mid road to catch the bus.
From work - right hook prius
Its cold. I need gloves

Still summer in my books! Don't reckon it'll get cold till January / February.

You can avoid a lot of the crazy by turning left onto Atturbury Street then following John Islip Street, St John Smith's Square, Great College St.
It's not quite as quick as Millbank* but no left hook risks or ped crossings.
*Adrenaline makes you pedal faster.

I finally got a local job. My new cycle commute to work takes 4mins 8 seconds, 0.8miles to be exact.
Its a bit of a shock after 32 years of commuting into The Smoke, I likey.

Riding to work 5.45 this morning clear roads for most finally on to the southbank (no more traffic) only me and a jogger coming towards me, I move to the left, he moves to his right so I have to almost stop and maybe because I interupted his stride he says C**t and carries on his merry way, I laughted the rest of the way to work......How empty does he want the world to be before he enjoys himself
