Stans and effeto valves are my go to combinations. As for tubeless on non-tubeless tyres, it works, but it's a pain as I found out you have to keep the right pressure constant. Too much and it pops off, too little (for say, off road) and the tyre just rolls off, as opposed to TLR tyres which seem to have a higher tolerance to variances in pressure.
I don't know the science behind it, but this is from what I experimented with.
