• I am deffo not the greatest fan of Cyclesuperhighways. Clearly, just painting bits of road blue isnt solving anything. HOWEVER,

these Cyclesuperhighways are not just blue paint, they include reworking dangerous junctions, giving cyclists more space on the roads and brings cycling infrastructure into the minds of local councillors.

I just received the below email and was hoping for a few people to come down to the meeting on Tuesday 27th September to support and combat this bizarre though strongly held antipathy to cycling infrastructure in North London (which lags far behind most other areas of London for cycling infrastructure). @Oliver Schick is there a LCC campaign for this or could there be?

    The email:

Subject: Stop CS11 : Your invitation to a Public Meeting on Tues 27th September in Hampstead
GOODBYE NORTH WEST LONDON (…as we know it)
CONGESTION AND POLLUTION CHAOS ON OUR STREETS

    • Do you know what TfL are planning with Cycle Superhighway 11?- And what this means for you and everyone who lives, visits or works here

FIND OUT at a PUBLIC MEETING on

    TUESDAY 27 SEPTEMBER at 8PM

         ST STEPHEN’S CHURCH

    Pond St London NW3 2PP
(Next to The Royal Free Hospital)
More cycling’s great but this scheme won’t work in Camden.
    Is this what we want?
Swiss Cottage gyratory reduced from 10 lanes (5 south and 5 north) to 5 lanes (3 south and 2 north)
Nowhere for traffic to go from M1, North Circular and A41 but into narrow residential roads to find a route south
Lives at risk – emergency vehicles gridlocked – someone could die in a gridlocked ambulance
Traffic clogging up our already heavily congested, narrow residential roads
Rocketing pollution levels and rising asthma attacks
Children taking hours to get to school
Elderly and disabled people unable to park
    Elderly becoming socially isolated
Goodbye to 13 and 82 bus routes
This plus HS2 disruption and other major construction projects in the area will bring North West London to a standstill
LET’S STOP THIS MADNESS – COME IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE IMPACT

Cycle superhighways are a great idea in theory but in practice a disaster for Camden.
TFL need to understand Cycle superhighway 11 won't and can't work for Camden.
No decision has been made on the introduction of CS11 yet. If you want to prevent its introduction it is not too late!!! Make your voice heard - come to a public meeting - let your local Councillors help you to prevent the impending disaster for North West London.
