  • It's fashion week again, and the freaks are everywhere - as are the people who photograph the freaks. It's like a zoo out there.

  • Heads up anyone that rides through Camberwell... riding down Coldharbour Lane, turned on to Denmark Hill approaching Camberwell and sweeeeerve as some nutter is standing between two buses swinging a road bike out like a pendulum across my path at arms length! Stopped to ask him what he was up to and his response was an incoherent torrent of swear words and insults. Assumed he was chemically imbalanced/intoxicated/unstable, rode out of there and though better of it. Thanks to the lady on the grey single speed at the lights that asked if everything was okay! Keep them peeled there are some oddballs out there....

  • I've seen Tynan... once... out West, this was not Tynan unless he's gotten good (unrecognisably) good at make up

  • unless he's gotten good (unrecognisably) good at make up

The man has many, many, hidden talents.

  • First commute on the fixed gear yesterday since losing the brakes. Picked a terrible day. Wet = lots of skids.

    Good fun but tiring/10

  • The driver flashing to another driver is not at fault because all the responsibility lies with the driver doing the manoeuvre, can you imagine how many dickheads would use this as an excuse when they knock you off..

  • You've got the maudsley very near by.

London has the highest concentration of mental illness in the UK.
Lambeth has the highest concentration in London.
Brixton/Camberwell has the highest concentration in Lambeth.
Coldharbour Lane has the highest concentration in Brixton/Camberwell.

  • Fridays commute was spoilt by a cyclist on a nice bike telling me that I was giving cyclist a bad name . What had annoyed him was that i had ignored the cycle lane and stayed on the road. I explained to him the reason for cycling where I felt safe. That the left turn was sharp , down hill off camber and over manhole covers in the rain .( Kennington park road /Kennington road) He said that I would annoy car drivers . The only person that I seemed to have annoyed was him. He then went through a red light. Discuss

  • nice biek = seven shades of wrong. carry on.

  • Can anyone recommend a good way to get from the mall to embankment? Tried the roundabout at trafalgar square but convinced it will kill me (particular the route back), tried horseguards parade (nicer but requires a dismount and hard to rejoin Road) and via parliament (adds ten minutes or so, and junction at the palace is horrid).

Is there a safe, fast way? I'm going Hyde Park- canary wharf if there's any other routes people can throw out.

  • You've tried all the routes then.

Just get used to Trafalgar square and Northumberland Avenue, that's the best way.

You could cut through St James Park and then do Parliament Square and onto embankment, but I'm not sure I could be arsed. Plus I think you aren't allowed to cycle in StJPk so you would get bollocked once in a while.

  • Slow ride into the city from Clapham South today. Lights still out around the South Circular, lorry twice chopping through the cycle lane in Clapham, cars getting stuck in the middle of intersections on red lights and seemingly someone turning at every junction.

Made it safely and the weather was pretty nice so no complaining.

  • Same here on my end, a slow recovery ride into work today.

Also with the cold(ish) weather finally coming back to the UK I've decided to start wearing long sleeves for the commute and embrace the cold weather around the corner...

  • Watched the lift doors in the greenwich foot tunnel close on a chap attempting to cycle into the lift. Priceless.

  • 10degrees @ 6.30am, windproof + ss shirt and shorts sufficed today. marginal though as i cannot do a tempo ride with my shoddy lower spine...

reported my thursday incident to the police as seems another cyclist was also invovled in similar with possibly same red car... they seem uninterested in my incident.

  • In the last few days I have seen two men in bibs with underpants and a t-shirt underneath. What is this? Has this always happened and I've just been lucky enough to avoid?

  • Yeah, think that's just because of the nearby mental health units, often go past unstable folk around there. Never seen anyone be dangerous like that though, will keep my eyes out.

  • shame i was not lucky enough to avoid your post - i cannot undo my mental image of it now

    ps boxers or briefs?

  • It's the new Rapha VestyPants collection

  • Briefs. I think that's probably better, but not sure...

  • guess it would keep things a little more.........secure..........

  • For those that don't want the 'Kuku Penthouse', a nest into which the male genitals are properly stored.

  • Didn't ride Fri, Sat, Sun since been on the piss all week.
Monday, flog it in to work. Cue: that weird stabby stabby cramping thing I love to get.

Also parted up the Kinesis so I have one less commuter bike option now.

Tempted to buy big mudguards and start riding the balloonbike Inbred in for the LOLs.

  • Love me a bit of Kuku Penthouse.
