• A chum of mine has a Raleigh M-Trax TI9000 road bike which needs a new owner (me). I know he got it for a steal, £50, a few years ago.
It needs a full service and a wash but in all respects it is lovely and he might be persuaded to sell it to me this week.
Sorry no pics yet but it is purple and grey and in standard trim.
What should I offer him as I have no idea and nor does he?
    Thank you

  • "Friends don't make a profit out of friends."

Has he done anything to add value to it?

That being said, if it makes an awkward situation easier offer him £100: doubling your money for doing nothing is not to be sniffed at!

  • Oh no I didn't want to make anything, completely the opposite as a matter of fact. I just didn't want him to lose out on the deal. I was going to offer £100-£150 but didn't want it to be too low. It is a bit too big for him and he has been riding a mountain bike on skinny, smooth tyres for the last four or five years. This road bike has been in his garage for all that time doing nothing. I'll service it and stick a shorter reach stem on it and see if it works for him. If not I'll give him £125 and change the stem back. Thanks for the valuation.
