  • The fiat dino is a different car, Wheeler Dealers did a beautiful one in blue, fucked it up by replacing the sweet orange carpets with black ones

  • Hello Bright - whereabouts in town are you? We could have forum drinks. Might be a bit lonely

Im over at West Hollywood by the Grove but I get around when work allows. You?

  • None of the dino should be called Ferrari as the Dino marque was created by Ferrari. Hence the cars badge work saying Dino.

  • Should be at spa, but not there now as the race car team I was going with managed to have someone drive in the the trailer the car was on...in broad daylight.

  • I'm over in Echo Park mate, my office is on Hollywood and La Brea though.

  • I missed it due to my paper being due. My partner in crime and my father in law are there in the Marcos. 1 lap into qualms and it popped itself yesterday. Back of the grid today if they can fix it.

  • Now we're talking.

The b needs sills and some letting in of metal on the door tunnel (the only piece of an MGB you can't buy replacements for. Oh, well. Prob won't be 2017, maybe testing.

  • Who's calling them Ferraris?

  • Makes me feel better that you missed it too ;)

    Fingers crossed for the car.

  • Picked my car up from the chap who looks after it, apparently he was asked if it was a parts car he'd bought to strip to keep other 850's running, such is its state of horrible filth. On the positive side I then drove it down to a chap who just today won a best in show award for his Volvo due to its lustrous paintwork etc. He's going to see just how much he can do to my oxidised red paint and filthy interior - hopefully a lot.

  • Here's the old girl, the red paint has oxidised in the areas most exposed to the sun leading to a pinkish hue, and I've used here as a DIY haulage wagon rather to the detriment of the interior:

    Goes and stops ok though:

On that note there is currently only one fault - the DS headlamp wiper motor is kaput, a simple swap when I find one.

    Did I mention it's dirty?

Well, on that note - I've dropped it off with a fellow Volvo owner to experiment on. I dropped it off today and he'd just returned from winning "best presented in show" at a Volvo event in Beaulieu, he's had a crack at the door so far:

The freshly mown lawn effect is hand for spotting where you've cleaned, apparently.

  • tarting it up to flog it?

  • Nope, keeping it - currently wading through the AP website trying to find a caliper that would work on the back.

  • 79 left, apparently, down from (IIRC) ~184, so if you do want one it might be an idea to start looking now.

  • It drives the wrong wheels.

  • Managed to gatecrash the Evo ECOTY Road test last week, while on holiday in Dumfries and Galloway.

Some serious metal on show and a very friendly bunch of guys. Managed to nab a passenger ride in the new Mclaren 570S on a bit of road that felt challenging at 60mph in my Subaru Outback.

The speed and suspension control were truly breathtaking and the braking was extreme. Never been in something so fast and not sure I want to again!

    And break reverse?

  • Just get either a monaro or mondeo v6 estate, both develop more power than the ovlov and the monaro has the right wheels being driven while the ford stole all the good bits of having a volvo estate and being a ford they are cheap and lots around.

  • Why? Disc and pad material would be a bigger issue unless you want to alter the brake bias further.

  • ^^The Monaro might do - it's a 6.0 V8. The Mondeo 3.0 V6 only has 200 bhp.

  • 2oopre any mods and if you use the VVT engine/heads quick 40bhp before any serious modding and the noble uses the same engineish twin turbod for over 500.

  • 240 bhp is still less than the Volvo had from the showroom, however.

I would also suggest that Noble didn't simply strap two turbo's onto the stock Mondeo long-block.

  • Noble probably added more intake and oil cooling and little else from the st v6 engine. They seem to like bigger inter coolers and simple mods to increase bhp.

Additional - having had a few ovlov estates, ford stole all the amazingly thought out bits from volvo such as accessible anchor points to easy fold down/removable rear seats

More shite - the mondeo duratec is a v6 so one more piston than the straight 5 in the volvo so more balanced and how much have you spent on the volvo to get that power output and what would that cost have been for the ford do do the same?
Also the monaro would need some serious brake mods to make the car stop. Bigger discs and bigger pads calipers all round.....then maybe suspension...
